Nah, he's safe from me. The horse is dead. I just settle for the occasional sarcastic comment now. Your advice to just do a search is a good one, though.
Jeez, was that a misfire. I wasn't trying to gloat. I just thought the name was clever and got a chuckle from it, thought someone else might see the humor in it, nothing more. Apologies to anyone who was offended. I'm going back under my rock now. :(
... "Song Sung Blue". :D
True story. N558JB was flown to the states today and will take on this name by next week. It also has a new tail design, but I haven't seen it yet.
It's the third in a series of names that subtly pokes fun at other airlines. The other two are "Rhapsody in Blue"...
In a word, no.
AirTran operates a connecting hub in ATL, and they depend on connecting traffic to make it worthwhile. Neither JetBlue nor Southwest runs a true connecting hub. There are some incidental connecting passengers on both airlines, but the traffic is by and large point-to-point...
I see you changed your original post. I liked the first one better. I'm not going to get into a "my contract is better than yours" debate. Let's just say that hub cargo operations are sufficiently different from point-to-point passenger operations that we're going to have different schedules...
Re: Definition of "Working Hard"?
I hope that comment was with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but I couldn't tell from your post.
Yes, that's 75 to 80 hrs actual block. And no, that's not a particularly hard schedule, to my mind. 95 hrs block time and I'm ready for a break, though. The...
...is a lot of incentive if you can get the time. Gravy.
Given that some months will be slow and some months will be crazy, depending on how the schedule pans out and what you can or are willing to pick up, it still only averages out to maybe 75 to 80 hrs a month. We work hard, but not *that*...
I just wanted to provide a little perspective on this comment with one of my own: I am personally one of the only career pilots I know of who has changed jobs in the last three years or so (vital for advancement) and has not been laid off from a flying job at least once. But I have two caveats...
You misunderstand. I try to speak up about incorrect information, not negative information. Of course, rumors being rumors, most of the incorrect information is also negative.
Naturally wages are "artificially low" at this point. How could they not be? You only have your most senior people...
Guys, I think you're missing the point. Flight time is great, but all it's good for is for getting an interview. It won't get you the job. If that were the case, they'd just weigh your logbooks and those with the most hours would get hired.
Once you get the interview, hours don't matter...
Probably AA, more as a defensive move than anything else, not because they've run out of cash. It just smells like something they'd do. JMHO, of course.
Hm. I'm not sure how to take that. Maybe the difference is that everyone knows what it's like at a regional. There were tens of thousands of us, and the issues we faced were only different in small details. There wasn't a lot to talk about that a number of other pilots couldn't relate to...
Re: Re: Re: JB a Major?
It's not the size that matters, but how you use it. :D
Market share? Who cares about market share? You can have 1% of the market and make money, or 80% of the market and lose money.
Go ahead and add flights. The marketplace will respond. Probably what will happen...
Re: JB a Major?
Last quarter, JBLU brought in $165.261M in revenue, with an average of 28.4 aircraft. That comes out to $5.819M per aircraft for the quarter. Let's be conservative and say that in the future each aircraft will only bring in $5M per quarter, or $20M a year.
JetBlue will have...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Pet peeves..
Yeah, I knew that, but it doesn't make it any more fun for the guy at the hold short line with all the strobes blazing away.
That aircraft was holding in position at night at an intersection. They don't do that anymore.
Re: Re: Pet peeves..
Nope. From what I've seen this is a common courtesy, but not common enough. Really bugs me when someone is taxiing head to head with you, doesn't turn off their taxi light when you do, and stabs you in the eyes with a 300W taxi light. Personally, I try to avoid lighting...
