I firmly believe that ATL, IND, and MCO are the best airports in the world. Why? Because all three have a Chick-fil-a.
Although I am slightly biased because I am IAH based, but Pappadeauxs in Terminal E is one of the best sit down places in any airport, but only Monday thru Friday. That is...
Honestly, I would not worry about the car for your first three weeks. If initial is anything like when I went through five years ago you will have one week of indoc and two weeks of systems. During all this you will have very little time to go anywhere or do anything, just concentrate on...
General,
Since the 756 does not go to IAH you probably have not been there in a while so I shall explain a little bit. Being IAH based myself I don't see any big deal but I can understand how this can get wierd. SOP in IAH is to call ramp to push then call ramp when ready to taxi. Ramp...
I personally love commuting. Actually, I love where I live and hate where I am based. I commute from BHM to IAH and have not noticed a decline in quality of life since moving from Houston two years ago.
My wife and I lived in IAH for over three years and even owned a house. After a while...
Asa Candler was a druggist in Atlanta during the late 1800's (yes, his first name really was "Asa"). He aquired Coca-Cola from its founders in 1889 and turned a little known beverage into the most popular soft drink in the world. When you went to the school in Atlanta that he sent a heck of a...
Yes, the ERJ has the same problem intercepting the LOC with a little bit of wind. My solution is to use Heading mode and shallow out the angle if able, or I hand fly it. And as far as hand flying, I think it is very easy to get it trimmed up and fly hands off (if you really wanted too :))...
Some corrections:
The Systems in the E145 are completely different from the Brazillia's. Most were actually designed by Boeing engineers. The Hydraulic system is almost identical to the 737's minus the third standby. Almost everything is automatic including the FADECs. I flew the 737-200...
No more flowback at ExpressJet (Coex does not exist anymore). If there ever is another flowback they can not displace a current ExpressJet pilot. That is the way that it probably will shake out. As of right now though, NO flowback, NO flow-thru.
BTW, are you the guy that used to fly at...
Now, don't go bashing Max. He happens to be just about the best controller out there, however I think he has retired.
Who else would give you the FM 1960 visual with the Hooters transition to 15L in IAH? Or the D@mn Visual to 27?
My favorite line that he said: "Jetlincoln 4100 you have...
That exact same thing happened to me on time. Also, I had a FA ask why I never wanted to be a captain to which I replied, "excuse me?" She thought that captains where hired to be captains and FOs where hired to only be FOs. She had been with the company for over a year.
Frats,
I think you will find that ATL is about the most organized layout for an airport that there can be. Its pretty darn simple: all concourses are north-south and the train runs east-west. It is all linear. First is T (Terminal) then A, B, C, D, and E. Can't get much easier.
Frats,
PS: I...
The Sheraton is about $70 a night. There also is the "Hotel Al Qaeda" out on Will Clayton Blvd. It is also about $35, however I can not remember what the real name is :).
Are you talking abou the place that the new-hires stay during training? Sure "Good Eats" is good, but I would never spend my own money at that hotel. Also, a CAL pilot was shot at over there a couple of years ago.
