The type rating doesn't get you the "promise of an interview." It makes you more competitive, but in a competitive employment market the type isn't required (for an interview). It is however required for employment; a prerequisite explained in the job description much like ANY prerequisite for... -

No...no one has lost a Captain seat. The only "downgrade" is self imposed when if Captain chose to bid as an Lance Captain (Capt qualified but bidding top 7% FO in a domicile) to possibly return to a domicle close to his/her residence rather than continue commuting as a Captain. -

You should have saved this for April Fools' Day! :p No one furloughs due to shrinking GROWTH (the operative word here). You furlough when the company SHRINKS (e.g. not GROWING). See the difference? -
