I think it is indeed a safety issue when you have people on an expected three hour flight and they are on the taxiway 9 hours later.
Medications, nutritional needs and passenger anxities can not be poo-pooed away anymore.
Just wait for it.
If we keep dropping the ball like this people will...
Wow...
What a nice thread to read.
In FLIGHT INFO utopia... all the discussions would be this good.
The FAF for FLL 9L is NOVAE... Its right over the NOVAE ? University in the town of Davie, FL.
It was a matter of time before this happened to Jetblue.
Most crews are pretty proactive and avoid holding people hostage.
But the story here will be how effective Jetblue communicates with the affected customers.
That last AA debacle in Austin, it sounded like there was very little...
Some meaningless trivia but if I'm not mistaken, the term "SID" is now one of those defunct, gone by the wayside aviation terms.
Its now a "Departure Procedure".
Good topic though.
You could expand it and do the airport identifier discussion too.
Here's one.
CVG
Its Covington, Kentucky.
I'd say the pilot group should EQUALLY take responsibility for this run up in EMOTIONS and EXPECTATIONS.
Where did all this come from?
Yes.. the leadership and compensation committee should have been more forthright, transparent and should have communicated better.
But where is this MASS...
Your "friends" must have that "management is screwing us" mentality already?
Wow...
JetBlue is by no means perfect or paying the highest wages, but advice to "stay away" is pretty crazy.
If you're at SWA, UPS, FDX.. sure stay away.
If you're at AA and haven't been screwed over.. sure stay...
No home mortgage interest deduction, no property tax deduction?
Unless you have something else to get you over the standard deduction (doubtful that 2106 Expenses would do that), looks like a 1040EZ for you.
But certainly don't take a stranger's word for gospel.
That's a common "flame bait" or "taunt" that guys throw around.
They act like its a shock or something.
Their logic is that with only the approx 200 or so A320's on the firm order now that with the 1600 pilots hired so far, those guys/gals will be the A320 Captain's for the future.
uhhh...
So?
Most places you'd just throw that stuff away.
Instead of making it garbage.. you ask if anyone is interested in it.
Yea.. its a little unusual...
But don't make it out to be more than it is.
I saw the OReilley segment and don't recall that he asked for federal regulation. He also did not rail on the pilots or flight attendants. He just seemed shocked that there was no explanation from AA management.
Way to go sky Nazis!
Just like the NWA snafu years back.
There has to be...
I listened to the conference call and believe we are already below 80 FTE employees... I think we are at 78.
And there was no mention of an exact number of aircraft sales. I am hoping five would be on the high side. We'll just have to see how the fuel thing goes and the company's profitability.
Morale
Yes, there has been a gut check over here as of late.
Yes, the growth has been slowed.
Yes, lots of guys were hired and told they would upgrade in x amount of months at the old growth rate. And its not going to happen.
Yes, there are guys out there that believe management is...
Read the fine print in an airline's contract of carriage.
There is absolutely NO guarantee that you will arrive as scheduled. Or even on the airline you bought the ticket from.
Military holdover.
I'm pretty sure its a holdover from all the military guys.
Delta use to hire 90%+ military in the 70s/80s. I remember seeing the stats from the old propagandist FAPA publications.
What about pinning your names and wings to your shirts?
Do you all still do that...
JB Computer systems
I believe we are getting the upgraded Ver 2 of the Open Skies reservation computer system soon if not already. Independence had it.
Employees can't even "list" for a flight as it is right now. There is no internal jumpseat reservation system also. Some upgrades are...
