Send in a dues form for a union who does not represent us yet. Yeah, I got right on that sh!t.
The letter from swapa said " we might represent you soon, so send in your dues NOW!"
That is rich. When the signing bonus for our last contract was divided up a certain union thug fought vigorously to screw the Captains, and give everyone the same amount. The difference between the fo and ca bonus check was quite small.
Poor Glen, he is a nice guy, but that was painful. But I am never a fan of "entertaining" pilots (hated Mad Dog!). He did my initial DC9 training, and really is a good guy and great intstructor.
I am sure most of the AirTran apps on file had been submitted while people worked at their previous job or were furloughed from a former employer. I know myself and several others that were called while at AirTran (we declined the interview) and we had not updated our app in more than two years.
If I haven't started training, then I am an airtran CA, and should be paid as a CA. The swa badge means nothing.
Typical swapa; screw airtran guys again while pay protecting the swa fo who doesn't deserve the CA rate.
My point? I was responding to Wave et al that claim It took longer to get hired at SW and /or that we got too much in this deal. I simply gave some facts that may show their level of b.s. They think if they repeat it enough it will be true, but it is not.
Retired mil guy? He is on his second...
Here are some facts: At my time of hire at Airtran I had coworkers get hired by SW with the same experience, same age, etc as me. I went to Airtran and never updated my app, yet was called for an interview within a year, which I declined. SW was simply not that attractive to me, or many other...
Waveflyer, DOH would have been fair. DOH would have put me next to former coworkers who were the same age and experience level as me when we happened to go to different airlines. Now I am junior to former students and FO's with much less experience.
We already have at least 50 pilots living in Denver. Due to the transition restrictions, don't know how many will be able to bid for, or hold, Denver prior to 2015.
CRJSensa, your FOs have had no growth for 2 years. Now the airtran deal has brought hiring plus an instant 12% bump in relative seniority. I don't care how you try to spin it, that is good for your FOs.
ILoverurban, how exactly is a 5% increase in seniority not a good thing?
I bet this passes by a larger margin on SW side than Airtran side. Sr guys get 6% increase in relative seniority, and lose nothing.
4day, the bottom half of fo's lost less than anybdy else, they were already on the bottom.
This is not a good deal for Airtran. 33% loss in relative seniority for me and 4 yrs less than DOH; from sr captain to jr b!tch captain for the next 5 years as the swa fo gets 12% increase and never has to sit reserve as a captain. Bring on the arbitrator.
