The difference is Delta has pretty much allocated all the large RJ's allowed per scope. They recently awarded some new Ejet flying to RP. Since 9E is wholly owned, they can't diversify and seek business from other carriers like Skywest and Compass has.
I'm curious how this 3-4 year upgrade number continues to propagate. Maybe I am missing something, but the only firm fleet plan is for 81 CRJ900s. This will require roughly 400-500 captains, which 9E already has and mostly likely are not planning on leaving.
I don't think it would be wrong to...
Classes running every two weeks, as many people they can get. Based on sheer numbers anyone hired in the next 100#'s should hold CA. Denver base projected to be the junior base.
This has been around for a while. The pay is pretty low and they do not pay for transportation to training or interviews. They also ask for a million things that most regionals don't normally provide, like certified logbooks stamped by your chief pilot, etc.
That was the best option, but you were lucky at the time because all the CA's at endeavor thought they had hit the jackpot and Virgin/Spirit/JB were a step down. Now you have sim center APD's trying to get on at Spirit.
The main problem with going to Mesa or CP is a lot of 4-6yr FO's literally cannot afford to go back to $22-24/hr for who knows how long. If any regional started offering street CA again everyone at Pinnacle would be gone, probably even to GoJet at this point.
The motivation for this is so obvious.. Didn't anyone notice Skywest ordering another 100 E175-E2's (easily converted to the larger model I'm sure) this week? Sign this contract, and Alaska will never grow again in our career. It will be all Skywest with some 737's for Hawaii and transcon.
Probably 1 of 2, or both:
1. Yank 20-30 airframes per year to match the reduced staffing
2. Offer a mostly worthless Delta seniority # entitlement to 9E pilots (Similar to what Eagle has) giving people a carrot to stick around and attract a few new hires.
At 9E it's 6 month LOFT (non jeopardy), 6 month PC (jeopardy event). I always enjoyed going into LOFTs blindly, knowing I might learn something new but not worrying about a jeopardy event.. The PC is a known quantity and being a jeopardy event, it is very easy to evaluate if you pass or fail...
Down to 41 CR9's in the next 24 months. Most 9E/9L FO's will be furloughed, the CA's will leave. The lifers and some FO's will stick around to the end, but eventually they will be disposed of like Comair. The XJ guys who think this will "be like the last CH11", or that we will be competitive...
With the aerodata and crewtrac fiasco, it's becoming apparent that the "vastly superior" XJ management is no more adept at managing the basket case of a company we have now... at the same time, the hopes that the ATL 900 base closing wouldn't happen - well, it's definitely happening now that ASA...
Someone actually hired by Pinnacle.
Legacy CA: Placeholder for displaced Colgan and Mesaba SF3 CA's
Legacy FO: Un-Paid IOE pilot for displaced Colgan and Mesaba SF3 CA's
The inherent problem with the American pilot profession is that it has nothing to do with experience or skill. We end up with highly qualified pilots in dead-end jobs, or no job at all. Pilots at Fedex and Southwest who make the most money, but when they were hired were often the least...
