190's are mainline, the low pay is due to the rates being negoiated while in BK. The DOH of FO's on the 190 ranges from new hires (hired off the street this past summer to 1989(ish) DOH for the top few who chose to stay on it for bidding a sked - myself included in the latter. I could have bid group2 about a year ago for about $25/hour more pay but I have other projects in the works and want control of my sked.

Out of curiosity I looked into their pay scales. Wow. Are there really 10 year FOs making $55/hr?? Please tell me they are getting compensated more than this!

What job would someone leave so that they can come to US and earn the lowest payrates in the industry forever and be forced to fly with pilots who are constantly reminding them why they must hold the line and protect their poverty?

The east pilots will prevail in establishing US as a stepping-stone hybrid regional-major with no one investing enough of their career to bother trying to improve it. In the process they will make improvements at other airlines much more difficult.

All because they couldn't accept an arbitration award that would have added less than 3 years to their career advancement over the Dead-End DOH scheme.

The rates were negotiated in the merger TA as a teaser rate to bring the flying in-house that was 5 years ago. It was to be renegotiated with new contract that never happened (aka USAPA), now we are stuck with a b-scale and basically the union running a food can drive for the 190 fo's.

A newhire coming on next year is not going to have to worry about the E190 FO pay for long. With the massive retirements coming up they will be holding captain on anything in 5 years or less. E190 Captain in less then 2 years.

It is going to be one of the fastest upgrades in history at a major airline.

That is what they were telling new hires at REAL Piedmont in 1988. This according to an ex-Piedmont, now US AIR pilot I flew with while he was furloughed in 2006.

How does a merger with with 10% right sizing come into your calculations? Also a possible integration with AA is going to put hundreds of there currently furloughed guys in captains seats if they go with USAPA's request right..oh snap.

That being said, the attrition coming in 400 days will mean we lose 1 pilot out East every 30 or so hours. You might start on the 190 but you'll be moving pretty quickly.

Dude, 1989 was 22 years ago, join us here in the future.
