Correct. "Hired not acquired" is more than a bag tag. Its a mindset. A mindset every pre-merger SWA pilot will carry into the cockpit every day. And when the staple doesn't occur, its going to be the 900 lb. gorilla every SWA f/o will harbor when he flies with an AAI Captain, even as he's counting his "Citrus override."

The cockpit climate will SUCK at SWA for decades.

You're starting to salivate, Fubi.

But he very well could be correct. Ever hear of "Greenbook, Redbook?". I see it here in DTW.

You guys will be "checkbook, phonebook."

I hate to admit it but I think you are right. Not to mention the fact the 717 payrates will be less, and the lion's share of WN upgrades will prob be on that airplane. SWAPA's tactic of using payrates as a bargaining chip will be coming home to roost.

Arbitration could solve a lot of those problems. They would make the rules, not SWAPA. (fences, etc). Then they could blame the arbitrators, not themselves.

Was Redbook/Greenbook arbitrated? I know you were in "Stupid Susies School for Homely Girls" and only 10 years old, but maybe one of the Republic guys enlightened you. Oh wait, your a new-hire so you won't be wide-body for 15 more years. Wide-body jet I meant.

Yeah, I think it was arbitrated, which was better than the TWA staple at AA, which will never happen again. (against the law now). That is bad news for you, and you and your group deserve what you get coming up here. Couldn't happen to a more cockier group. Btw, the bottom 3 guys on our list fly widebodies. You fly an old 733 into TUL.

AAI pilots, sorry your airline was bought, but it could be worse...DAL could have bought you and you would be a part of that mess...

And with a couple of extra premium trips I pulled in $32,000 for the month....

How's your commute to Detroit? Or do you live there? Detroit probably has homes more in your price range......

I have family here, and that helps. When the SLI is complete, maybe Ty will snag those trips you want. And with current economic conditions, maybe GK will reign in on those extra high months of yours? I mean, the higher 717 rates were taken off the table, you know.....

I do know that my wife and children have a gun pointed at their heads right now. How willing am I to risk their lives?

That is one of the most idiotic statements I have read on FI in a long time. If you have not figured this out yet, this is business. We (AT/SWA pilots) are pawns in the game. The sooner you realize that, the better off you will be.

I will play the game by their rules. They will always have the gun.
I don't mind playing the game by their rules. I just hate it when they change the rules and don't tell you.

Again, They always make the rules. Remember you are labor and management always controls what happens. Unions are a huge help in forcing the hands of management, but they do not and will not ever drive the ship.
