No flame, just heard it today. Did PSA agree to fly the Mesa 900's for a 2 Percent Raise for Captains and 4% for FOs over the blended rates??

If so would that be cheaper then what Mesa flew them for?

PSA does not have 900 rates. All that is happening is that we are voting on establishing a pay rate so when 2012 comes around our management can put together a proposal to forward to mainline. This is all so we can bid on the Mesa flying that expires in 2012. It does not mean we are getting airplanes.
The pay rate is above all other airlines except Republic. It is multifacited so they aren't really comparable. If PSA gets 1 900, all the pay for all airplanes goes up. Because our pay is based on an average of types. ie blended.
No it isn't the highest but far from the lowest. And because we are in contract negotiations this rate is essentially 6 years old. And will be admendable with our next contract.

Questions for you shiny jumbo jet drivers:

1) Is the 900 2-4% shinier than the 700?
2) How are you planning to get around mainline's scope? The 900s were grandfathered exclusively to Mesa from the America West side.

It's just a bunch of numbers on a piece of paper. There are only airplanes IF mesa does not survive and or by 2012 US Airways decides that it's more economical to have the flying in house. Mainline pilots lost the arbitration with scope, this is why republic is flying the 190's. (Have you seen their f/o pay?).
US Air will not buy additional airframes for PSA. They would have to come from Mesa terminating their leases.

Did I miss something. What arbitration? Rep is not flying the 190's for US Air.

Don't worry the AWA contract will be in place for a LONG time. The morons at USAPA have NO shot at a joint contract.

I hope that PSA get's the CRJ-900s so that there may be better service. Mesa service is pretty bad. Actually, it's hard to have good service when there's no crew to man the airplane.

I dont know if I would considder PSA to be "good" service.

Although I will concede that there are very few companies with a pilot group whose egos are strong enough to "fly the 9" and PSA would deffinitely be at the top of that list.

You guys know why we cant get a windshield wash in CLT? Its because the window guys are all working overtime on squee-gee duty up at the PSA crew room cleaning the drool off the glass. Some of them are even starting to call out fatigued!

You guys were missing three key points:

1) The lowest bidder will get the planes.
2) Mesa may not be the lowest bidder anymore.
3) It will not be PSA because mainline would have to provide startup capital, and this is a key reason they are not there now.

Not much in the form of start of capital. They (PSA) already operate 200/700's. All they need to do is get the leases. I think what your gonna see is that many mainlines are gonna cut the profits of Contract carriers that it will almost be easier to operate and own there own regionals. It has already been suggested that US Airways eventually will want one large regional to all its feed.
I could almost see Piedmont/PSA and maybe Airwhiskey getting combined to do all the feed for Airways.

Actually Mesa's 900 service is pretty good out of CLT. How's GoJets service???
