An interesting tidbit of info: Vehicles are regularly broken into and stolen out of the parking lot of the vendor who hosts ASA's recurrent ground and simulator training.

I consider this a clear and present threat to my personal safety when scheduled for these events.

Does anyone know of any company policy that addresses coming to these events armed?
 
haha only in the south would somebody ask a question like this. BTW I think the sim "vender" may have an issue with it. ASA just rents the space
 
The sim vendor hasn't posted any signs advising that they don't want personal weapons on the premises.

I looked through my ASA books to see if this were addressed when I was in training and didn't find anything that spoke to it.
 
You could always call the FlightSafety center to voice your concerns about center/lot security ask them about CCW directly; here's even a toll-free number for you: (800) 889-7916.
 
If I were carrying something sub-compact like a KelTec or LCP, I wouldn't even worry about it. Just holster and shove it in your pocket. No one would know unless you pulled a Plaxico or dropped it.

Other thing to consider contrary to the above statement is:
Does Atlanta have any BS handgun laws?
Do you have a GA carry permit or one from a state with reciprocal privileges?
Does GA have any laws pertaining to handgun possession while at the workplace?

Answering those would only keep you out of legal trouble, not necessarily the CP's office.
 
Pretty sure in GA you can carry just about anywhere now except bars and into the airport-and there was a ruckus about not being able to carry guns inside hartsfield a few months ago.
 
Most employers strictly forbid bringing firearms onto company property (legal liability, required by insurance)..I'm certain a large operation like ASA would have such a rule. Violation would result in 99.999% guaranteed termination (also required by insurance).

I'd bet they would apply that to the flight safety facility too.
 
I don't know about ASA, but bringing a weapon onto FedEx property equals being arrested and prosecuted. Leave your artillery at home, please!

Bingo...

Check your "employee handbook" from HR or whatever it is called at ASA, not your flight operations manuals. Most companies STRICTLY prohibit this. Flight Safety would be considered as company property during your termination hearing.

Leave your artillery at home? If it's legal to carry and not against policy (which I doubt) then why not? That's why the OP is asking.

If I could afford to pay an armed LEO to follow me everywhere I go, I would.
 
Check all your company handbooks to see if it's in there. If not I'd bring it along. I had a sim session at flight safety in Hobby (South Houston) when I was a new hire... I brought my conceal carry like I do in any bad neighborhood or late at night. I'd rather answer questions and live than the other way around. The "it'll never happen to me, you're a crazy right wing nutjob" people think they can talk their way out of anything....

How exactly will carrying a firearm while you are strapped into the simulator prevent or deter someone from breaking into your car and stealing your GPS, stereo, clean underwear or whatever else you have left in there?

Just wondering?!

Sorry dude. Prohibited in the corporate policy manual, unless FFDO. 2-18.1 (4A)

People breaking into cars means there is crime in the area.. Which could lead to you being robbed or kidnapped etc. Protecting yourself has nothing to do with someone stealing your GPS. If you need me to explain anything else just let me know.

You might want to look up the word "paranoid".

So do you apply this same logic on overnights? For example, if you are overnighting in New York for example, do you hide in your room surrounded by your pillows because of your fears? I mean, really. I heard that there is a lot of crime there so you must really be afraid of being robbed or kidnapped!!!!!!!

Interesting logic though...

If your definition of paranoid is protecting myself and my loved ones when possible then that's exactly what I am.. You liberals all think the same... Look the other way, pretend it'll never happen to you... And if it does, tell them to 'go away please' works every time.

Nothing in Georgia law prevents me from carrying in the described situation. I was asking for a corporate point of view.

Ummm, let's see go to documents, then click the corporate tab, and under manuals is the corporate policy manual. We have too many books to read.

Do you wear your seatbelt when you get in a car? You must be paranoid if you do!
 
I carry, SIG P229, just keep it on the DL and not in secure areas. Knowing your surroundings and being prepared for it, is proper SA.
Pepper spray and keeping your head on a swivel is probably a better alternate in your case..

Why does liberal get thrown in there like a dirty word? He makes a good point that everyplace has some amount of crime, so where do you draw the line. To you carry to church if vandals broke in once upon a time. I believe gun ownership is legal and necessary for responsible people in this country.

The other thing I see wrong here is that bringing a gun to defend yourself is one thing, staking out a parking lot with the hopes to pull a weapon on a would be robber is another. I agree with the previous response. Safer bet to keep your job is probably something like pepper spray.
