looks like a job well done by the guys in the alpa office on the PBS deal....Unless I find some trap door in the deal, I'm in.

you could read the latest ASA connection and or pick up a phone and talk to someone at the alpa office.

the only 2 highlights I'd like to see are:

1. get Skywest out of ATL (or get ASA into SLC at equal rates as SkyW in ATL). Nothing against Skywest but, SkyW INC should not have SkyWest planes in ATL while ASA has pilots on furlough.

2. get our furloughs back in our seats....refer to #1...

Completely agree. Thanks for posting. Glad to see positive feedback rather than all the negative feedback with the exact same information everyone has.

But don't you guys know....Skywest flying 50's in ATL has NOTHING to do with our downgrades, furloughs and massive line reductions!!!!

completely agree... Have seen the fine print and will reserve my vote until then, but the general info looks good

also totally agree I can't stomach skywest in atlanta with ASA furloughs on street...
 
I am still on the fence. From the highlights...it looks interesting.

But if it has ANY contract language like our present contract I will not be able to support it. Such as... the company "may" or the company will "take into consideration".

At this point I am open minded. But I hope we have a better lawyer writing the language than last time.


Only other concern is our negotiating the next contract. With the present state of the economy I felt like PBS as the only thing we had to negotiate with.

Also, I was hoping we could use PBS to get One List.
 
Just remember you will be very very efficient. No month to month, training, or vacation conflicts. the computer sees all of this prior to awarding your line. It is efficient, and it has a lot of positives, but once you hit go, you will never go back.

It will increase your overall efficiency by about 10 hrs a month per pilot. In the end it will reduce the staffing needs.
 
Still too early to tell, for me. I've more questions than I have answers. I will give Kudos for the volume of info on the last blast email. That was the longest email I've seen from our local guys in years. Like it.

Frankly, I think it would be optimistic and slightly naiive to think that our QOL, and ultimately, earnings, will do anything but go down with this PBS agreement. How much? No one knows yet.

All that being said, I would categorize the arrival of PBS at ASA as probably a necessary evil. Given the circumstances, I think that having a say in PBS as opposed to having it implemented without any input is a good thing.

I think that so far as cost reductions go, PBS is probably one of the least painful options to implement.

Then I suggest you worry about getting 60% of capt. pay for FOs and let ASA pilots worry about the PBS TA....In other words we don't really care what you think....Go lecture the Pinnacle pilots about their TA that undercuts all of us....

I ask two questions, both have factual answers and you get defensive. Facts are good and will help people make an educated decision. What's the problem?

Fact is I'm interested in all regional contracts as we all work off of each others progress.

Or are these facts top secret?
 
I don't post here often, but the way I see it, we need to be dual qualified, with PBS to financialy compete with the other DCI cariers. If we don't grow, we will shrink even more. I'm not doom and gloom. ASA is largest DCI operator out there, but we need to remain that way. We need to let management be able to bid for more flying so we can bring eveyone back and hopefully continue to grow.

I think dual-qual MAY get us new bases....

I will commute before my little girl comes home and says "hey daddy meet my new boy friend Tirone". If we could secure a new base outside of ATL I would move. It would have to be established for a few years before I would move. DFW was great. SLC and LAX would have been an improvement. I need to see some stability before I would pack up and move my family.

"the black Of life" is impressed upon ever white person in ATL every day of the year. We are forced to accept it.

Like I said early guys, "I don't post here often". I'm and "old guy". I'm just going to raise my kids. ASA can make it if we let them. If you don't like it, try somewhere else. If you can find another job, good. There aren't many out there. I hope all the furloghed ASA guys can find jobs until they get back at ASA. After that, come fly with me (The old guy) who has to get at 4:00 AM and drive RJ's.

The fact of the matter is you and I are competitors...We have to compete for a smaller piece of the pie, and cost is a big factor in that. We don't "work off of each other's progress" anymore....We know have to do what is best for us....If you want to preach to us about getting more for PBS, then I will preach to you about settling for lower FO pay than ASA or CMR had.

Go preach to the PNCL pilots who have a TA that isn't even close to XJT or ASA....We will do what is best for us...
