There will be furloughs at Delta, and one or two airlines will again go bankrupt. This is not a good time to be "the world's largest airline."

I am now making 60% less. My wife is a Delta F/A and we are holding our own. I have never been 30 days late on anything in my life, that means 40 years of paying on time.

My wife has always flown more than her line value and in the fall we are afraid that the line values will drop and there will be nothing to pick up as a result of the decrease. Couple that with the interest rate hikes they will put on our credit cards and it will be a very quick short trip to the BK court![

Time for the Dave Ramsey plan. Rice and beans and beans and rice. I know how it is. One income, wife, 3 kids, mortage, van payment, bills..etc, etc, etc. Believe it or not, I made it for quite a while on unemployment while being furloughed. These times definately require us to all tighten up the financial belt. No more eating out 3 times a week. No more vacations to Mickey Mouse for 1 week at $2000 bucks. No more 2010 trucks/cars, boats, jetskis, snowmobiles, travel trailers, plasma tv's and all the other toys we can't afford. The storm can be weathered.

Trust me. I know. Everyone is going to be effected by this. My wife has taken a 25% pay cut this year and her company is still bleeding cash. Even a down bid for someone like me is not what I am looking forward to. Even though it is only a 12K a year hit as an FO, it still is the car or house payment.

Remember, that when it seems like things can't get any better they get worse and the reverse holds true. Y'all all ( I believe that is plural) need to relax and stop listening to 24 hr talking heads. They all have an agenda. Ironically and unfortunately this coping technique will cause more of the problems we are trying to escape, as emplyees in all those industries are laid off and stop spending on whatever industry you happen to be in. I guess that's the inevitable result of building an entire economy on consumer spending, especially spending based on easy credit. I think it will still be a while until the economy contracts to a point that is sustainable based on real and not imaginary wealth.

Yes, My fear is the Prime market is going to melt down. That will make this sub prime mess look like a walk in the park.
When people like you and I start to fall delinquent on our house payments etc and they start to foreclose on us, that is where this will get real bad.
I fear the worse is yet to come. What we are seeing right now is being termed a "Bear Market Rally."

What I fear most is "Obama Care." Currently, companies get to deduct the anount they spend on health insurance benefits per employee. Obama wants to eliminate this deduction (which averages about 12k per employee each year.) It gets better:

The kicker is that Obama wants to also tax the benefits you get from the company on health insurance premiums as income.... This means each employee would be paying taxes on 12K they don't actually make. We would all be paying huge new taxes on our benefits so illegal immigrants and deadbeats could get even more stuff for free!

If things were to go down this way, wait and see how fast many companies would drop health insurance as a benefit!!! Either way it would suck-either go out an pay a fortune for a private policy, or pay huge taxes if your company actually still provides insurance for you!

You are absolutely correct! Something is gonna get lit up over there, and then every freaking raghead country with a tank or a plane will be throwing everything they have at Israel... Most of the "entertainment tonight" and "american idol" crowd has no idea what the hell is really going on internationally. Most of the bad guys in that region of the world will not "sit down and talk it out." These people don't want to "just get along." Their only goal is total world domination-they are patient and smart... You better believe there are many people in Iran who really do want to see Israel get "wiped off the map" they are not kidding. the freakshow president of Iran was re-elected for a reason-there are simply a damn lot of those guys who think like he does!

The only factors yet to be determined are when and who will fire the first shot. This scenario will definitely gonna get real bad, real fast. No "bailout" can fix this crap once it gets rolling.

You forgot option #3: Take the "optional" government-provided policy. After a while, no one will be able to afford the private policies (due to the higher taxes), and it makes little sense to buy a policy when your taxes already cover the "optional" government policy, and before you know it the government is the sole provider. I hate to encourage the thread drift, but I have to address your post. You want to look at the situation from a logical third party point of view? Okay, let's do that.

The U.S. had no significant presence in the middle east on 9/11. We weren't killing any wives or children. If we are so imperialistic, why do we repeatedly liberate countries from dictatorships and then LEAVE, turning power over to democratically elected local leadership? Seems like an awfully expensive and inefficient way to build an empire. If Jihadists are only "retaliating" against Israel and the U.S., then why does Indonesia get bombed all the time? (Or Pakistan, or Spain, or any other country they're trying to intimidate?) If we even care to listen to what Osama actually says, he does not say things like, "leave us alone and we won't kill you anymore"; it's more like, "America is the Great Satan and must be destroyed."

Does the U.S. unnecessarily extend its influence around the world at times? Perhaps. But to not call a spade a spade, and assign all blame for Islamic extremism on American actions, is intellectual dishonesty. If your view of the world is correct, Obama's apologies to the Muslim world for American indiscretions should bring about lasting eternal world peace. I laugh in your general direction.

Isolation does not work. Tried that back in the pre WWII era and learned quickly that if you're not the major force in the world, then someone else will try and take over. A responsible world entity we should strive to be, but the fluffy far left and Ron Paul crowd theory of stay out is just going to empower the real bad guys to expand their reach.
