Colgan Pilot if you don't want ALPA but want a union then write in Teamsters. Or if you plainly don't want ALPA write in Teamsters. Support for Teamsters is still looking strong and has continued to grow in these final days leading up to the election. We have a choice this time.

Also thank you current ALPA members for all the free food, your dues have paid off !!!!! We appreciate it, but you can't buy my vote !!!!!

(Teamsters Email)
Commencing on Monday, November 24, 2008, you will have the opportunity to positively affect your wages, benefits and working conditions within your airline—you will have the opportunity to vote for labor union representation. Although the only named union on the call-in/internet ballot is ALPA, you have the chance to vote for another union and we would encourage you to vote for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The following are instructions on how to vote for Teamsters Local 747:

Telephone

1) Call 1.877.662.8683 with your voting instructions in-hand.
2) Enter your Verification Identification Number (VIN) and Personal Identification Number (PIN).
3) You will then hear prompts to cast your vote—be sure to wait until you hear “Any Other Organization or Individual.”
4) Then clearly say,“International Brotherhood of Teamsters.”
5) Once you have voted, you will hear “Your vote has been recorded.”

Internet

1) Go to https://www.BallotPoint.com/NMB/
2) Enter your Verification Identification Number (VIN) and Personal Identification Number (PIN).
3) The Colgan Air ballot will appear on your computer screen
4) Select “Any Other Organization or Individual.”
5) Type “International Brotherhood of Teamsters.”
6) After clicking “Cast Vote,” a “Vote Selection Confirmation” screen will appear. Confirm that you selected the appropriate box and typed International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
7) If you need to alter your choice, click “Change Selection” and it will take you back to the previous screen. To confirm your vote, click “OK.”
8) Once you have voted, you will see “Your vote was successfully registered.”

Whether you vote for Teamsters or ALPA, it is important for Colgan pilots to vote a union onto the property during this election. Remember, the voting period is from November 24, 2008 until December 17, 2008 (ending at 2 p.m. ET). As always, if you have any questions regarding NMB election procedure or about IBT Local 747 representation benefits, feel free to give us a call or email.

Vote International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

Any Colgan pilot that votes for Teamsters needs to have his head examined.

What can the teamsters provide that ALPA can't provide better?

What benefit would Colgan being Teamsters be if/when the list are merged and PCL is ALPA?

How is Teamsters aeromedical?
How many airline labor lawyers does the Teamsters have?
Teamsters have Horizon out West. horizon has great hourly rates, but poor work rules. Is that ok?

How is the teamsters representation on capHill?

Why did the NJA pilots reject teamsters?

When the Colgan pilots go to a local teamster meeting, will the other teamsters, truck drivers for example, empathize with 300K Air Line Pilots?

If you have custom needs do you go to a big box store that has a little of everything or do you go to a custom shop that specializes in your needs....

How well do ALPA/ALPA mergers go? USair/AWA merger went well didn't it...?

Mesa (ALPA) has poor rates and poor work rules. Is that OK?

They have rejected ALPA also....and have gone independent.....

The teamsters drivers at UPS were going to honor the IPA picket line if the UPS pilots went on strike....

I wouldn't go to either if they didn't have a good record of taking care of their customers.....and I sure wouldn't go to a store that blames the customer for the failure of the store.....

Colgan Pilot if you don't want ALPA but want a union then write in Teamsters.

This is great advise. If you want Teamsters then write in Teamsters. The worst thing you can do is not vote or vote no.

All fine points, but they come at an extra cost and not covered in the regular dues.
Look at Comair, they're getting charged $20 a month for a "merger assesment fee" incase they merge with someone.

You need a lawyer for something else? Fork out a few more bucks.
So far your dues only cover the cost of the magazine.

How is the teamsters representation on capHill?
...
And what has that done so far for the pilots? We've taken massive pay cuts. Our duty/rest times are worse than over the road truckers.
But hey, as long as you got a seat on Capitol Hill. Seriously, what does ANYONE on Capitol Hill ever do? it's a country club for the Good Ole Boys.

Any Colgan pilot that votes for Teamsters needs to have his head examined.
Coming from a guy whose "dream job" was at a non-ALPA airline.

Oh, and not to mention the same guy who paid an Eastern Airlines scab for his first job.

I think the merger assessment is BS without an actual merger. However, it is ALPA policy that no dues money is spent on an ALPA/ALPA merger. Each side must hire their own legal staff to prevent a conflict of interest by using the ALPA ones. If it's an ALPA/anything else merger, then dues cover the legal staff cause there would be no conflict of interest.

I don't know of a situation, other than an ALPA/ALPA merger, where a pilot would be required to pay extra for representation. Assessments are required at rare times, but that's a fact of life with every union.

Additional assessments are voted on by the pilot group to be assessed.

Don't suggest that it is imposed....

Q. Why did NJA pilots leave Teamsters?

A. Because MILLIONs in their dues money was going to IBT accounts that the NJA pilots got nothing in return...

So, as a Colgan pilot... if you want thousands of your dues dollars going down the drain- vote teamsters.

Recently the Pinnacle pilots got TWO MILLION from ALPA national to fight PCL management...

As a small regional like Colgan, you will get far more in return from ALPA then you put in...

Is ALPA perfect? Hardly.. it is an organization of people, just like Teamsters, and just like management.

.
The Merger Assesment Fee at Comair was imposed. No one voted on it. If there were a vote on it, it would have never passed because there is no merger.
DAL has said there will be no merger at the regional level and our MEC has even said that there is no merger. It's "just incase of the possibility" of a merger. We're supposidly paying off a bunch of lawyers right now to look into our options, if there were a merger.

This is bull ******************** from the teamsters if you ask me. Lets not campaign with Colgan this time, AT ALL, and then when ALPA pays for the voting system to be up and running and the vote is a go per the NMB, we will swoop in and spread negative press about ALPA and try to get some people to vote for us. So they have spent nothing, are using ALPA funds who paid for the ballotpoint thing(at least I think ALPA is paying for it) and say, oh just write us in. ********************ing great, you think a union that is going to do this is going to represent you fairly, good luck.

It's OK...nobody takes PCL seriously

Vote for IBT if that is what you want. but no matter how you feel it is important that you VOTE!!!

My position on the union has changed. From being for it to against it. I don't plan on being here at colgan for my then a couple more years like most of us. Hell if Alpa is unable to negotiate a contract with pinnacle mgmt then how are they going to get us a contract. It would be one thing if it was the old family owned colgan air. but its not, it is pinnacle the same company that has denied a new contract for over two years. So it boils down to this, who wants to pay 2% for then next few years for no improvement. By the time colgan gets a contract we will be gone, so let the future colgan pilots go through the same crap they we go through now both good and bad. All the regionals suck and are under paid. Wages will increase with demand, just like anything else. With fewer pilots and an increasing demand we will have a choice, its a fact. So I say no to the union and will not be voting next month. End Quote.

What a tool. And with an attitude like that, you have NO credibility anyway.

If Colgan pilots unionized they immediately go into status quo until CBA is ratified. That means that Colgan can no longer change work rules or pay whenever they feel like it. Whatever terms of employement existed, exist without change until you get a contract.

I think that if you want to write in Teamsters, fine, do it. But before you do, think of this.

The ALPA drive started weeks AFTER the Teamster drive. ALPA filed with the NMB with 70% of the pilot group submitting cards before the Teamsters could even get 35% (the minimum required to hold an election). That is why the Teamsters are not on the ballot and I feel a good indication of the quality of representation one would see between ALPA and Teamsters.

ALPA is a much more organized, professional union than the Teamsters. The Colgan Organizing drive just proved it.
