I use to work for AA back in the early nineties. The biggest cry babies were the original B scalers. The same guys that went to work with no hope but getting 40 cents on the dollar to the A scale. A truly clueless group of people.

Honestly, it is scary and it should worry everyone...especially those few that love to bash SWA and find themselves in places like DAL, UAL, USAirways, etc, etc, etc. If it looks bad for us, then it must look rotten for you. Becareful what you wish for, SWA doing bad means everyone else is barely alive.

If 6% of our flights are dragging down the profits then fuc*ing cut 'em out. The problem with half the guys on this forum is that they work at the most inept run companies in America, they wouldn't recognize an intellegent move if you drew the a diagram. Go ahead guys, keep dropping your fares below the cost of your product, you'll find out where that leads you. Big gamble by your CEO's, with your careers.

Is that the same B-scale that came to us courtesy of AA?

Actually, B-scales came to us courtesy of the UAL pilot group, which opened the door to B-scales by signing the most concessionary contract of all times in '80 or '81, called "Blue Skies." This was thanks to the UAL MEC chairman John Ferg, who was in bed with Dick Ferris (UAL CEO). One year later, Crandall expanded on the concept and pitched the B-scale theme, and AA pilots unfortunately took the bait.

That said, AA767AV8TOR, with all due respect you are really sounding quite immature with your anti-SWA comments. Let it go man. While you may not agree with SWAPA's stance on age 65, sitting here and ripping on SWA because of that is not very professional.

AA767AV8TOR, if SWA and SWAPA have done so much to lower the bar why aren't you posting your anti-SWA drivel on Challenge and Response?

Oh yes, I guess you are too timid to back up your asinine comments behind an actual name instead of a moniker.

Tejas Jet,

I’ve been living in Dallas for two decades so I’m very familiar with what’s happening over at LUV and SWAPA.

The problem is LUV became too much of a political powerhouse to overcome (especially in Texas). You had both Hutchison and Cornyn in your back pocket.

We tried to stop you guys from screwing the rest of us, but unfortunately for the rest of us, APA was unsuccessful.

The problem with the action, or in some cases inaction, for Age 65 you all took was the adverse effect it has on the rest of the industry. It was completely short sighted and arrogant on SWAPA’s part. We are only now starting to pay the price.

All I can say to all the guys losing their jobs and moving backwards across our profession – is we tried and keep the faith.

AA767AV8TOR

SWApA had next to NOTHING to do with the actual change, although some of our guys like to take the credit.

It wasn't until ALPA changed their tune, did the law change.

Other than that, I agree with you. I've been preaching that this change will screw far more pilots than will benefit for over 10 years.......

Age 65 was a battle and crusade maintained in force over the last decade by a small group of Southwest pilots. SWAPA didn’t have the courage or the know how to put a stop to it before it got out of control. Now the rest of us are paying the price. Age 65 is screwing much of the industry and will for years to come. The blood is on your hands. Whose is the idiot – take a good look in the mirror.

AA767AV8TOR

Look in the mirror all you Paul E. fans!

You really need to get over it. That ship has sailed. Age 60 isn't ever coming back. All our careers have stagnated.

Does the phrase "Crying over spilled milk" sound familiar?

Not when it is only eight months old and just starting to bite! Hope you get pulled out of the cockpit in a body bag.

I guess you SWA-loathers with your midget sized mental capacity haven't figured it out, we are dropping 196 crappy short haul flights, adding 6 hi demand flights, and rejiggering all the rest to go for RASM.

In other words, more long haul, less short haul, fewer flights, same or more hours flown, higher RASM resulting in the same or higher pilot force requirements.

Problem is long haul doesn't pay as much as short haul.

One $99 ticket does not equal three $69 tickets.

Plus, SWA was never designed to produce RASM. SWA is only about lowering CASM.
