No thanks. I'm retired. I gave up years of my life just to have pinheads like Speedtape insult me. Let someone else pick up the torch.
Doesn't it bother you that people you perceive to be as incompetent or corrupt are responsible for the future of your career at your company?

As Rez frequently quotes from Plato: "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors."

Yes, it does bother me. And I tried to change that, but was stymied the whole way. I did participate, and public humiliation from ALPA insiders like Speedtape is my reward. Why? I challenged them and their authority, and blew the whistle on a lot of that corruption. So they had no choice but to destroy my reputation and credibility so that no one would believe what I was saying. Hence him still attacking me , here two years later, for losing a captain rep election to two very senior captains after my FO rep term ended. Fact is, most ASA pilots think they know me, but have never even met me. Those that know me well, know that the stories, rumors, and tales about me are grossly inaccurate. I'm not at all like my online personalities in person.

No, I will never again personally participate in ALPA politics. But I will back candidates willing to step up and challenge the incumbents. I will raise grass roots awareness of what's really happening in ALPA, one pilot at a time, and give them whatever support I can provide from behind the scenes.

Maybe he just volunteered. Railroading the process?

They are all volunteers. You could volunteer too, couldn't you?

You don't see it as a conflict that DU is on the PBS committee and his son (a new hire) is on the Scheduling committee? and since when do new hires get positions on powerful committees like scheduling, anyhow? You would think one on the Scheduling Committee would need experience with our contract, and ASA Scheduling? Looks like DU is trying to rig the vote by stuffing the ballot box. Don't you think the son (with what little experience a newhire has) is going to ask Dad what he should do? DU now holds two positions, one directly, one by remote control.

Now I like Danny personally, but more than once he's been caught talking out both sides of his mouth. As senior as he is, PBS would benefit him greatly. Danny and Pete need to be watched that they don't railroad us on PBS.

Just as he sat in the crew lounge and said he was against the TA and would vote against it. But the MEC voted for it.

I was "against the TA" also....but I too voted for it...

As you know I wasn't a fan of the scope section....There are other things I didn't like about it.....However it was time to move on.....

His job is to what he thinks is best for the pilot group...IMO and that of others.....it would not have been beneficial to drag out negotiations any longer....

I believe things would be worse today if we had voted the TA down.....and I believe DU felt the same way.....

...one of the big mistakes that was made was not managing expectations.....

Kinda ironic that I am now defending the "no pilot left behind" group that so many of you put into office......

Please expound on the corruption of which you speak. Please provide specific events, persons, and times! You should not yell fire and then run out of the room. Making such broad accusations is a dangerous thing to do and implicates innocent people that don't deserve your paranoid and pathological drama!

"I'm not at all like my online personalities in person." Ladies and gentlemen, that says it all! And, he accuses others of talking out of both sides of their mouth! My clinical guess is that you have always claimed that you are misunderstood--is there a term for that? Maybe you don't see yourself clearly! But most of us do!

As another poster stated.... this of course assumes that you are right and the ALPA insiders are wrong.

How do we know that you didn't declare to the "ALPA insiders" that you wanted to change everything or something and do it your way. And the "insiders" said... "ugh... no.. we tried that" Or "that is self destructive"... or simply... "we don't want to do what you want to do..."

Could it be that?

....define "right" and "wrong".....Both are in the eyes of the beholder.....

Agreed Joe... so why should your "version of what is right" have more value than anothers "version"?

That is the whole issue and point of self government that you democracy haters can't understand...

And when your "right" doesn't happen... what do you do..... well.... we know what you do....
