See...told ya! We're toast!
You're right AV8OR. This whole CATII thing is just blown way out of proportion.
It is COMPLETELY excusable to have a complete and utter service failure by the entire airline (oops..except one airplane) on any given night. Or heck two nights in a row for that matter.
Of course it is all ABX's fault because the Air Force decided to build a base all those years ago in a "Fog Magnet".
Why of course they should have seen the Mecca of airports that CVG was (or was to be rather). How stupid of them.
You are right, you probably are not doomed, and you may be CATII someday, but this is just one more collective event that adds to the uncertain future of all of us that are "working" for DHL.
How many customers will this event cost us?
What happened to the CAT III bus that diverted to JFK?

But that doesn't matter now does it? Because after all how many times have you needed CAT II capability in the past 25 years right?
I wonder what a Fedex customer would do if he received a package from Fedex but failed to receive one from UPS that he was expecting. After calling UPS, he is told, sorry, we just didn't see the need to have our aircraft certified for CAT II/III. You know, we've been doing this for 25 years and everything and it just doesn't happen that often...so what??
Glad to see it's cleared up a little this morning so ya'll can finally get in.

When it absolutely positively has to be there....SOMETIME.

And yes, to nip it in the bud, you will see a few ABX arrivals this morning. With a fleet that size you are bound to have a few that are NA CAT II for a variety of reasons such as time evals due, or numerous other deferrals, etc.
Sorry to sound so bitter, but it just chaps my you know what to see a once great job being erroded away by thought processes like this.
We're all in this together (at least for a little while longer) and I just think the superiority complex of a minor few of the legacy "we've always done it this way because we are and our call sign indicates that we are DHL" guys and the "A containers" need to be put in check. (I know AV8OR isn't one of the legacy guys BTW...just has the attitude. Although, I guess sitting sideways for 8 plus years is kinda legacy in it's own special way.)
All of you that I have had the pleasure of meeting in person have been really decent people.
