vtech, it's OK with me if you believe that ALPA would not have been able to get you more. Truth is, we'll never know. A few things though:
[The virtues of ALPA]
I truly hope those of you at SKYW are able to achieve more than what was offered. You are certainly worth it, are you not?
Dispatch only gets 2% COLA as well. So, its not like management is low-balling you comapred to the rest of us.
We're worth what the market will bear. Skywest Inc. has determined what the market will bear in negotiations with the ALPA represented ASA pilot group. Skywest pilots have a Profit Sharing program that pays 25% more than the ASA program will AND, if approved, a comparable pay scale. In addition, the Skywest pilot's W-2 will reflect more at the end of the year than an ASA pilot's W-2 because of the work rules. All of the above without the 1.95% kicker the ALPA represented ASA pilot will get to deduct on their tax returns for the "gratuity" to ALPA. I know where I want to be.
I'll vote "YES" and go back to the table next year to discuss further adjustment to the scale if the market will bear it.
The ASA pilot will go back to the table in four years with the help of ALPA and negotiate for who knows how long.
Well, tell me how it worked out for the ASA pilot group with the assistance of ALPA. Let's see. Yep. There it is right there in their four year agreement. 1% per year COLA for the next three years.I'm pretty sure "the market would bear" enough of an adjustment to at least keep us even with the COLA we didn't receive over the last almost 7 years . . . !
Did your group go almost 7 years without any COLA??
Doubt it...and I know inflation in SGU didn't come close to inflation costs in California!
I'm pretty sure "the market would bear" enough of an adjustment to at least keep us even with the COLA we didn't receive over the last almost 7 years(seeing as Skyw continues to be one of the most successful airlines around, they shouldn't be making extra profits by letting us slide backwards)!
If "the market would bear" it, how come ALPA didn't achieve it at ASA??

What's your response?
Gandalf,
Come on out. You're posting like crazy over there on the SAPAFORUMS. Why won't you play over here?
How about our COLA is 1% for next year and then another big 1% the year after...and I seem to recall you all got retro pay/signing bonus or whatever you want to call it for those 6 years of nothing?! We got nothing for the years that we waited with no COLA!!
