IF you want real representation.... then if the vote passed what committee or elected representation position where you planning on going for?

That's a great question Rez. Exactly what I asked of a few OC members. I don't know where I would have fit in . The impression I got from those OC guys was that they already had people in mind for the important positions.

It's funny how they tried to say everything was "up to us", but in reality..we all know that there is a group of people who just can't wait to stand in front of management and flip them off...and these are the people who would be running the ALPA show.

Read the posts. Tell me you don't see the attitudes, name calling, resentment, and unprofessionalism.

AND AGAIN...right out of the ALPA OC members' mouths...5 years of negotiating to get pretty much what we already have.

The sooner the ALPA structure was up and running the better... these guys were working so it would be... that doesn't mean there wouldn't be a place... a vote for ALPA was vote to volunteer....

And what about the representation on the National and international level? Obviously this doesn't concern you?

It does concern me...but doesn't it concern you that when you look around at other ALPA represented carriers that they are MUCH worse off than we are?

Where is the national representation there? And I know your answer...'look at their local MEC and who is running their individual ALPA representation'...and that is my point. There is no guarantee that the people running it here would have been any more qualified. One of the OC members confided in me as we discussed this that this was one of his biggest worries. National ALPA representation? That is funny.

These people keep posting...and you wonder why only 36%?

Please....PLEASE...one of you unprofessional, name calling, threatening, chest thumping ALPA supporters...stop me in the terminal and call me a _______ (scab, idiot, bafoon, moron, cronie, etc.) to my face. I'll be happy to take you outside and show you what color my belt is.

YOU are the reason ALPA failed at SkyWest.

W

Dude, I'll be coming in around 2:20pm on Sat from SEA to ORD. Meet you outside of terminal 1....and I'll tell you to your face. I'll be the 5 month pregnant chick getting off the flight with the UPS flight bag tough guy.

Part of your condition at SKYW was management fear of a union... all abasedon union pay and conditions... throw in the slide in pay AND inflation.. and perhaps SKYW isn't that MUCH better... but your perception is your reality...

Where is the national representation there?

right now ALPA national is working to fix FMLA to include pilots... something the SKYW pilots will bebefit from...

And I know your answer...'look at their local MEC and who is running their individual ALPA representation'...and that is my point.

What is your point? You expect one of your fellow pilots to volunteer his time and be better than the job you'd do?

There is no guarantee that the people running it here would have been any more qualified.

more qualified than whom? Jerry? Is Jerry more qualified to represent your airline career... we now know that your group thinks he is..

One of the OC members confided in me as we discussed this that this was one of his biggest worries.

And that is good... he was concerned.. so the worry is who will do better...Jerry or us..

National ALPA representation? That is funny.

W

It isn't about national serving you... it is about you serving you and you electing local pilots to represent you... did you not pick up on this or did the OC not tell you?

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....guess what?

You'll be lucky to have what you have now since you all send a loud and clear message to management....

WE'RE COOL WITH A 1% RAISE FOR 2/3 OF THE PILOT GROUP!

What do you expect me to say???? Good job guys??? Duh????

Dubya,
If you want REAL representation, why don't YOU do something about it? What have YOU done to make this happen?

ASA raised the bar. SKYW is lowering it. SKYW only has what it has because ALPA properties negotiated for it. SKYW will continue to be a "middle of the road" type regional so Jerry can attract applicants.

Just wait til the next down turn in the industry when no one is hiring and watch that "policy manual" evaporate.
