How does Alpa stop the Whipsaw when Non Alpa carriers pop up all the time working for less money?

With Brand Scope negotiated as part of mainline agreements......

Am I wrong or was it Comair(ALPA) that got the first good contract for regional jets?

Your wrong...... ALG and PDT had far better contracts far earlier..... never the less, all three lost out because of the bidding war....

Hell Mesa's contract wasn't bad untill they had to give every work rule, duty/trip rig and pay back to merge Freedumb a non alpa to thier list.

Mesa's contract has always been bad..... Freedumb was a factor, but so was mainline scope that helped create Freedumb...... do some more homework on that....

Just curious how do you think your own TA was effected by your non-union sister company? Couldn't hit a homerun on 70 seat rates if Skywest was flying them for less now could you!!!

It was affected by Skywest and Mesa/CHQ/PCL/CMR and even the DAL 70 rates that were lower than our current rates.... Whipsaw is whipsaw whether or not the other guy is sending money to Herndon or not.....

Do you think TSA lost cause of Gauxjunk?

GoJets was another creation of bad mainline scope language...... Do some more homework on that..... Has ALPA stopped GoJets?

It's not ALPA's job to stop the whipsaw it's up to us as professionals to stop cutting eachothers throats and get paid respectively for the day to day responsibility we endure.

BS..... It is ALPA's job and responsibility to stop the whipsaw..... If you are going to wait for individual pilots to stop the whipsaw then you might as well wait by the fireplace in December and hope that a big guy dressed in a red suit delivers you your solution...... That is more likely then individual pilots stopping the whipsaw......

When negotiating contracts ALPAS hands are tired by the lowest bidder!!!

Most of the time by fellow ALPA carriers..... It wasn't the Skywest pay that tied our hands..... it was fellow "brothers" at ALPA carriers...

Put down your Herndon crack pipe for just a minute and look around....

Look I never post on here because of the funny yet dumb crap on here, but why do you think if alpa was so bad so many alpa pilots are so Supportive of it?

It is important to remember that the real loss in all of this is to the Skywest pilot group. For those of us who volunteered on the OC, made the phone calls, came in on our days off, we did it because we felt it was the best path for our pilot group. 65% of our pilot group felt otherwise and that is dissapointing, but that is how a democracy works.

To all of those involved, be proud that we ran a well organized and strong campaign that unfortunately fell short. Thank you to ALPA and all of the volunteers from other carriers who helped out. Wish we could have brought it home.

Well I didn't realize we aere debating mainline scope, Let alone branded mainline scope as a mean to fix the current state of the industry.

Thats just not gonna happen the best shot we have as a whole is to get as many regional carriers under one union as possible...The best choice for that at the present time is ALPA...

I have done plenty of homework on this subject not to mention growing up in a family directly effected by Lorenzo. So spare me your lectures on doing my homework..

Tell me to wait by a fireplace and look for a fat a$$ in a red suit. Well you keep wishing for mainline branded scope in one hand and crap in the other then tell me which one fills up first...

My references were to the current state of the industry (post 9/11)...The better contracts were fought for and won by ALPA regionals only to be undercut by non-union or weak teamster carriers...

As a whole our best shot is to get as many under the same group fighting for the same goal...And you sir are wrong that starts with the individual pilot!! He or she has to realize the professional service they provide and fight not only to be paid accordingly, but have the work rules and qql we deserve...

Although I voted against ALPA, I would like to thank the OC for their efforts. I appreciate their want and desire to make things better for this pilot group. If ALPA would have done more for my fellow brothers and sisters at my former ALPA carrier I may have votedyes. In fact, if ALPA had done a better job there I wouldn't be making this post, I would still be there with them.

Those of us at ASA now need to give serious consideration to leaving ALPA and joining with the Skywest pilots....

Ha! Put your money where your mouth is. I look forward to seeing a petition with your name at the top of it. G'luck.

So you have 20 names of terminated employees so far this year. Uh huh. And along with those names..you have evidence to support their wrongful termination too. Because, as you said, you know.

This is exactly the kind of BS that turned me off of ALPA. You can ask my roommates and classmates...I was squarely in ALPA's corner until I started talking with the OC reps in SLC and reading the garbage some of you post. Scare tactics and "he said, she said" gossip. Totally screwed up facts and stories trying to scare me into voting.

You want to know why ALPA failed...because of the people like those on this forum that are representing them. Read the posts. Name calling, threatening, BS-ing. Yeah..I want you people representing me.
YOU are the reason ALPA failed at SkyWest.

Implying that I didn't ask questions, didn't do any research, didn't pay attention, don't care. Referring to me as a scab, idiot, cronie, moron, bafoon.
YOU are the reason ALPA failed at SkyWest.

All of you chest thumping ALPA minions that have nothing intelligent or reasonable to say to me in support of your organization...go look in the mirror...YOU are the reason ALPA failed at SkyWest.

W

That's a great story. If it makes you feel better for throwing yourself at Brad's mercy, then go ahead and keep telling it.

Voted YES.

Excited about ALPA.

OFFENDED AT BEING CALLED A SCAB.

WILL NEVER CROSS A PICKET LINE.

Not worth it, won't do it, even if it costs me a job.

Won't fly struck work...same thing.

HOWEVER, the majority of pilots at my company voting against ALPA does not make me a scab. I did my part, I sought to educate with professionalism and humility. It didn't work...for any of us union supporters. So be it. Am I rethinking my decision to stay at SkyWest? Yes. Am I going to go making some irrational, emotional decisions because I'm disappointed? No. Do any of these things make me a scab? NO!

Lay off the s-word, guys. It only hurts our cause. There are a lot of guys at SkyWest that can't do what megadeath said(look past the emotions and see the big picture). It's too bad.

Wha did YOU do for your fellow pilots? I did allot...I just used ALPA to do it...

You served instead of expecting to BE served
