Hi!

If you're really into widebodies, I'd suggest Emirates or Cathay Pacific.

United job

As an ex-United guy I have to say I would have a hard time leaving a regional jet captains job to go to United. Bad moral, bad schedules and the threat of a buy-out/merger just don't seem attractive. I have friends reasonably high up in the training center that won't recommend the job to my friends. I have a hard time believing it is worth risking moving from a stable company, even as a F/O with a chance of upgrading soon, to go to United. Too bad, when I got hired there in '99 I thought I was set for life.....

2001 Hiring pool

I was in the hiring pool in 2000-2001 waiting for my class date. They through out the pool. I would love to contact someone about getting another shot. I just can't seem to get a contact name or number or e-mail. Anyone have some intel ?

That's the problem, though. There's just no such thing as a "stable" regional job. When you only do feed for someone else, your job is just one RFP away from nonexistence.

7) Planning on 100 new hires this year and 300 next year unless Age 65. Even with Age 65, they will still need to hire "some" pilots. "Some" being undefined.

That's all I know guys. Good luck if you choose to apply here.

It's to bad that they don't realize that they already have over 100 pilots hired that have been in the pilot pool for 7 years. It would be nice and the right thing to do if they would give us a chance. But we are getting left out in the cold and probably will never get another chance at United. If the sons and daughters get special treatment why wouldn't we. They have already spent lots of money on us.

Our payrates are just as atrocious as yours!

Yep... pretty close, and that's sad when you compare the sizes of our respective airlines. I couldn't afford to go back to year 1 either here or at UAL.

Unfortunately, from what my friends at UAL say, your work rules on your LCO side got gutted just about down to FAR's. At least for us, it's still ~ 60 block hours of flying for 80 hours of pay in 15 days of work with reserves working 16 days/month.

I really hope you guys get to recover your losses. I'll be happy to join you guys in a picket line.

BTW... now that the deal has been inked between UAL and AQ, have you guys gotten any details?

In the modern world of RFPs, sham bankruptcies, and whipsaw, there's no such thing as a stable airline job, especially at a regional airline.
