Was flying from ORD to LNK the other night on Air pissconsin ,

"..Uhhh good...good evening ladied and gentlemen, ..umm.......were gonna be flying at flight level 240...I mean.. um 24000, feet,,,,,,,,,,,,,umm,,looks like there wont be any bumps so dont worry about that.....uh,.. it should take about an hour......an hour to get to Omaha...........I mean , I mean Lincoln.".......( didnt realize he was still on)....."God D#mmitt that sucked"..( The Cap - " oh no you'll be fine ").... "Oh Cra"....( Fo finaly figures it out)

Cabin laughing..snikering...etc..

No joke, CA did the rest of the PA's ( I didnt realize that FO's do PA's )

FO reminded me of those really sad looking high school kids at McDonalds that are stoned and trying thier damndest to take your order.

I was afraid you were on one of my flights and you were gonna post MY PA announcement. haha. Whats wrong with FOs doing PAs? At our company usually the PNF does the PA
 
Usually the captains at AWAC do the PA announcements. It's at their discretion if they want the FO to do it. Before I upgraded, some captains had me do the PAs to get a feel for spontaneous thinking while reading the wx packet. Have fun playing airline pilot next Saturday.
 
How do you know it wasn't someone new, on IOE, and nervous about doing a PA?

Maybe you could do better if you tried. Oh wait, you're a $hittaco ramper, nevermind.
 
I was at the gate (in my seat) in CVG on a commercial deadhead back to domicile. The pilot gets on the PA and informs everyone of our flight level (yes, flight level), arrival, the weather, and shooting an ILS approach. Aside from me and any other pilot who may have been onboard, nobody really had a clue what this guy was talking about.

My advice: just tell me how late we are, when we are leaving, and how soon we can get there.

You did get where you were going, so no worry's!! He get better!!
 
I was so nervous the first few times I made PAX announcements. It just takes some practice, and it'll get better. My capt says the same thing everytime, except he changes the wx, destination, Flt time, and FAs name, seems to work well for him. It's like he's got a script with fill in the blanks. It's about getting in a flow, but once you get stuck saying something you didn't want to, that's when the "ummms and ahhs" come out. You let me know the first time you make an annoucement and then tell me how sh!tty it was.
 
Mine sucked!

My first one was on the ATR with Woody. I gave an announcement to stay seated and keep the seat belts fastened. Cairns Approach said they were seated but didn't have any seat belts and then a Delta guy started to make a few snide comments about the PA as I sent it over the radio instead of the PA. :blush: Cairns got on the radio and said "OK Delta, as if I have never heard you guys do the same thing". No more comments from or Delta freinds after that.

Of course I was very embarrassed (pilots don't make mistakes) and all Woody could do is laugh. He said "well, you got that out of the way, so let the pax hear it this time".

Pretty good bait there taters, but since you called us 'air pissconsin' I'll call your bluff. First, everyone knows that lately we have been renamed "Air Wiscancelleation" because the east coast commute attrition is greater than we are upgrading CA's, and they were jr. mannning us to begin with.

Now, that's BS that one of our FO's flubbed up a PA on the way to LNK. Only SkyWest is doing that run right now you turdwacker. Check United.com.
I'm not saying that it didn't happen, but from what I can figure out, AWAC is not flying to LNK currently.

On a CRJ they can't hear the PA announcement in flight anyway. So, you can say about whatever you want.

Couldn't have been all that new, he introduced himself as the captain.

And I did get to where I was going, eventually. :D
 
My favorite was the UAL captain that gave about a 4 minute descent brief flying into LGA to all of us on the radio... He talked about the weather, and the sights, and how wonderful it was to have us all along, and to enjoy our stay, and what gate we were arriving in, and how great it was that we put our faith in a struggling airline, and then to please listen to the FA's as they prepared the cabin for arrival.

(Not that anybody else has ever done it, but it had to take the cake for longest ATC transmission in history...)
 
I just read the ATIS I don't give a crap if they know what I am talking about. Half of them don't listen anyway. I hate passengers. 1/2 bank mode and crap what the hell!!!!! Screw the passengers! They smell up my lavatory.

Anyhow, when I was on IOE I did a horrible PAX briefing. After it was all over, I looked at my captain and said "I just butchered that briefing" He said "Who gives a $hit, we're paying you to be a pilot, not a fu#king DJ." CLASSIC. Ever since then, I haven't really cared about how well I do the pax brief, and I probably do a better job because of it.
 
I've heard NWA give PAs over GFK ground a few times. Also while on a NWA flight out of GFK last winter the FO gave a PA like "Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen this is your FO speaking. I know there are probably a lot of UND aviation students on board so here's a detailed breifing..." and proceded to give an entire approach briefing including present position, altitude, which MSP STAR we were to fly, expected runway, wx, gate, and so on.
