It was a little sappy, but heres the back story..

Had a GF who started there back in '01...I was flying at a small regional at the time. Jumpseated on them a ton, went to her FA graduation, liked everyone there, shook hands with Neeleman(sp) etc..Did alot of over nights with her and the crews she flew with..Lots of fun..JB even got me outta a bind while I was stuck in PR. Had to sit in an FA seat in the tail, but it was a way home when every other major wouldn't help out.

(of course most of that was nearly 10 years ago, so I'm sure it has changed)

Probably will never get to a major, only an associates degree, lack much PIC time and the majors haven't had a great track record with hiring in about 9 years or so.

If I was gonna choose between airlines at the moment I'd pick SWA and then JB....No thanks getting stuck on the bottom of DAL/NWA and their 12,000+ pilots. AA hasn't hired in awhile I'd say, and United (well do I even have to mention United?) CAL..no thanks starting at $30/hr with no health benefits for 6months (unless that has changed)

So yes, JB would be one of my 1st choices..NJA was great, starting pay was awesome, and it was fun while it lasted. Pass bennies were sorely missed. And I happen to love flying the Hebrew highway!

Blue Wings closed there doors in January. We sold them 5 of our A-320's back in 06, and they acquired 2 more on there own. So there is now 7 used A-320's with the IAE engines on the market. Numbers of 3-7 seem to keep showing up in conversations. All of the 320's would go threw a heavy check before we operated them. Nothing official but the rumors of hiring are o plenty.
 
FWIW..I've been told to expect an open house in mid-summer, with some possible interviews/classes shortly thereafter....But thats still 4 months away so who knows how accurate it will turn out to be?

Where do they usually have an open house? Are they usually at the JetBlue training center @MCO or do you mean at one of those flt.ops.com type job fairs?
 
If we have an open house...there won't be an official announcement. You'll hear about it from one of us on here and other word-of-mouth. I don't ever recall JB officially advertising the open houses.

I don't think you have to resign at Colgan. Found out there is not training contract, which I had read about elsewhere...I think it's like Compass' training contract...it just never really materialized and/or faded away.

PS-I DO know guys that are very unhappy at UPS, and wish they were somewhere better!!!
 
Well, this morning I heard from a friend that interviewed with Colgan just last week. He said, Colgan does have a training agreement of one year pro rated. According to my friend, Colgan was very brief about the contract. As if, they did not wanted the crew members to know about it.

Funny thing is ... I agree with you. I've been her 4 plus years and I wouldn't recommend it as a career airline. If only you could see what JB is doing to us via work rules right now and their version of a direct relationship.

But what these bubbas on this board won't do is alude to any of that -- it's par for the course to defend your company on flightinfo, even when that same company, er "the Corporation", is moving to deny pilots an appropriate resolution to a rather significant contract dispute. Apparently this 5 year indvidual contract thing isn't that good after all (I say with sarcasm).

JB ain't bad -- on the outside. And much of what you see on the inside is "okay". But there are significant issues in there that make JB less attractive than it used to be (when all those Mesa bubbas came for $78/hr wages, ha).

Standing by for the cultish "if you don't like it leave" comments ...

Dont listen to chef he was in the military...



okay all kidding aside he is right. Jetblue is a good job and after 5 years i am making a decent living but we have seen some real steps back in relationship with management. We work our butts off here and have asked for industry average everything. On the outside the candy coating shell looks like industry standard while the round table is trying everything to lower employee costs.

example: talk of how they gave an industry leading night override of $13 per hr or approx $75 on a red eye

reality: they eliminated the 13:30 rig.. trip would pay 13:30 that now pays 11:00 ish with a $75 night over ride

Do two back to back lose $500 to make $150

just one such example

Correct but you must add that they have also removed most of those trips. There are only a few left that would even be affected by the old 13:30 rig.
