Just out of curiosity, why is Continental doing so much hiring? Are they growing that fast, or losing that many pilots to retirement? When the other legacies start hiring again, hopefully in the near future, can we expect any hiring to be done near the degree of Continental?
5-7% annual growth and retirements are the main causes.
Actually, LK said the 5-7% growth target just includes CAL mainline. XJT may be above and beyond that.
that is good to hear. He told my class that it was a consolidated number to include XJT and that he expected CAL to be 1-3% per year. I like the 5-7% number better!
Sincerely,
B. Franklin
People. People. Just look it up on any financial website or in latest issue of Aviation Week and Space Technology. These are all publicly available facts.
"Any idea what the breakdown of the airplane assignments are for the 10/17 class?"
Uh, the 10/17 class hasn't begun yet...
Classy Response.
Anyone else have any insight on what aircraft assignments are planning to be offered on the 10/17 class.
Any idea what the breakdown of the airplane assignments are for the 10/17 class?
There are actually 12 slotted for the 10/17 class with the breakdown:
4 737 IAH
4 737 EWR
4 756 EWR
The more the better. You guys who are starting here have made a great choice. CAL is the best Legacy to work for and for sure the best airline in the US.
Our Managment is the best also, they know how to run a company well. I'm going to stay here till the end.
There will be even more newhires as we start taking back our flying from the leeches at Xjt.
koolaid anyone?

Now that's a retarded statement coming from a former CRJ puke.
Not all regionals are the same. Flying and RJ from lets say Houston to Mexico City is not the same as flying and RJ from Atlanta to Macon. One is flown on a route that could and probably should be flown by a mainline jet. The other would cost more to fly a mainline jet than a rj.
I hold no ill will towards Airlines like Colgan or Piedmont and ect. Its those operators who fly from Hub to Hub or Hub to major city that bother me and should bother other mainline pilots.

Wonder how he slipped through the cracks.
