I find it really really hard to believe that no one from the VP level down knew about this. This didn't happen over night. If the Germans can't deliver a package overnight how can they work out a deal with UPS overnight.

I agree, in the press conference, they kept saying how the "team" had spent so much time and effort working on this for several months.

I Give DHL ZERO chance of pulling this one off. If you think they lost money and screwed up with the U.S. Express market, "YOU AIN"T SEEN NOTHING YET." These DHL baffoons will loose out on EVERYTHING in the U.S. What customer will utilize their services when they will provide such a sorry product in the future? UPS will give them LOW LOW Priority in shipping their product. Oops sorry, we left your freight in Lousiville as the UPS freight has a higher priority. Whose product will get downloaded at the outstations first? Not DHL! With such a long phase in 12-18 months, what will be the reliability of Astar and ABX given their jobs are going away? What will be the sick call usage, and who will answer their phones for Junior Manning assignments? What reliability will the loaders, dispatchers, mechanics present for DHL over the next 12-18 months? If you think DHL screwed up the ILN Integration (Disintegration) wait ans see these DHL Bozo managers try managing this large of an operation. I predict DHL will loose tens of billions on this Nightmare of a decision. Time will tell. I'm glad I don't own real estate in Wilmington, OH or ABX stock.

I'm no CEO, but this seems to me like DHL is handing the knife to one of its competitors.

Plus the problem with DHL has always been its ground contractors, which this does nothing to correct.

I find it hard to believe that anybody didn't see this coming. Certainly Joe Hete knew...he's never pinned his long-term plans for survival to being a part of DHL. John Dasburg knew...which is why he never invested in newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft when they were available. The pilots of both companies knew...many have already left, or have been seeking other positions for a while now. The rest were hoping against hope that they would somehow survive the coming debacle.

Losing 3 million dollars a day gives one a pretty strong incentive for working things out "overnight"

I dont normally post on here. But I do like to read. This is just further consolidation. The end result is going to be the same, alot of people out of work. Ive seen it at flying tigers, challenge, emery, cat, airborne, and dhl airways. Personally I dont know why any of you ASTAR or ABX guys are even going to work tonight. Send them a messege. At least stick it to them, dont let them sweet talk you and let them tell you that tomorrow is wonderful day. The end result is going to be the same. Everybody is out of work, no paycheck, no airplanes not even a preferential interview.

I work at ccia. Believe me this is going to happen at bax sooner or later. And the day that I am told that bax has been bought and some new operator is going to be on property in 12 months is the day that airplane is not moving with me in it.

Stick together, have some integrity, honor, and let DHL figure out how to move freight for the next 12 months.

I would love to wake up tomorrow, turn on CNBC and watch the headline, DHL shutdown. They deserve it, hete deserves it and everyone else of those management F(#%ks. Im sick of the worker always getting screwed.

AMEN BROTHER!!!! I SAY IF THEY WANT TO GIVE IT ALL TO UPS, GIVE IT TONIGHT!!!

I think you guys need to bring them to their knees, at least make them beg you to finish their contract with DHL. It's not a consolation prize but....Many a pilot has raked in some cash at the end of an airlines life by putting the screws to them as they are doing to you. At this point it seems to be "you against them" until the doors shut, so you may as well get yours!

I wish all the best to everyone..... Except DHL Management $crew Them
