I can't imagine that Paul needs/wants any costs offset. Not to say he is a fool, but look at it like this. If it costs him what a penny is to you to operate his Yacht a year, would you be looking to offset any of that penny? No, you don't want anyone playing with your toys and neither does he. He is not a Millionaire, he is a Billionaire several times over. Geting a few bucks back to maybe offset a little MX would be of no concern to him. I am not speaking for him, but I just have a good idea of what someone with that type of liquid capitol would think of chartering out his boat. What say you?

I am clueless and sworn to remain that way forever.

The scary part...

the boats some of the Russians are now buying/building make this one look "small" in Monaco.

and Im sure its all legal money, too.

:( .

Yeah, Monaco is the place to see boats, that's for sure... Come to think of it, I'm about due for a few day stay at the Cap d'Ail Marriott!

Here are some lists of some of the of largest yachts . . .

http://www.powerandmotoryacht.com/megayachts/1104top100yachts/index1.html

It's a bit dated - Ellison is rumored to be selling Rising Sun to Mittel (British steel magnate - Ellison also sold off his GV for a GEX - Don't tell GVflyer!), and some even larger yachts are on order by people such as the Sultan of Brunei and Roman Abromovich.

Paul Allen's yacht (Octopus) is #2 on this list (414 feet), behind Ellison's Rising Sun.

Falcon Capt.--I'll probably be at the Cap Marriott in Nov. I'll let you know when I'm going to see if you'll be there.TC

No offense to your boss Spook, but I've always thought the Lady Moura was THE best looking yacht out there!
http://www.webshots.com/search?query=lady+moura&new=1&source=search_results_top

It was built by a Saudi prince back in the early 90's, for an estimated $120 million. He also had an identical one made for his wife as well.

In my opinion, what makes the Moura look better then the Octopus and lot of these newer mega-yacht's is that it's from end-to-end a ship. The Octopus, The Rising Sun, The Limitless, The Tatoosh, all look nice, but the "cabin area" doesnt take up the whole top part of the ship. They have huge open decks which artifically stretch these ships.

The Lady Moura, albeit 15 years old, simply has a classy yacht look to it!

Lady Moura is a magnificent yacht but it does not even come close to the technical features of the Octopus. The Octopus is a creation that blends the concepts found in the life styles of James Bond, Jules Vern and Jacque Cousteau. Might not be the biggest anymore but certainly over the top in any other dimension.

I don't know how this is too personal but does he have an office or does he do everything from home?

Who...Spooky 1 ? Well, he tells me he doesn't have an office and never leaves his home for any reason. Agoraphobic, you know, but we really shouldn't talk about that...

Oh I've read all about the technical features and "toys" that Mr Allen has on The Octopus. Toy's that would make even James Bond blush! My personal favorite would have to his underwater submarine! How cool is that?

I agree with you 100% - The Octopus by a long stretch would be the greater of the two boats in that respect. But the Moura and Octopus are two different beasts all together.

Wow, a Submarine that goes underwater??? What a concept!

As opposed to those "surface-only" submarines! ;)
