I believe that the volcano closures of 2010 constitute the largest AIRSPACE closures since 9/11. I do NOT believe that they have been more costly.

I think Flyburg has a good point. He's not drinking the kool-aid, he's just noting the obvious. You have to figure out a way to get the flights back into the skies as soon as possible. I have been stuck in Tbilisi for the past 5 days. Our pilots and flight attendants are scattered all over Europe and during a recent conversation with a crew scheduler there is an obvious sense of unease permeating through the company as to what the potential fall out could be if the airspace closures continue much longer. And to those of you who believe the economic fallout will be limited only to European carriers, you are sadly mistaken. We all have a vested interest in seeing this thing resolved sooner rather than later.

JUst read that 2 f-16's and 2 f-18's have been found to have engine damage. Brussels & Fin's.

My friend, I hope that you are stuck in Tbilisi with the model in your avatar.

We'll send food in a few days.

And just how do you propose it be 'resolved'? Cap off the volcano?

Routing flights around or under are probably just as big of profit losers as just canceling the flights.

The fact of the matter is, I simply do not know. It sucks to just sit here and wait while knowing that the industry has already lost over $1,000,000,000 and continues to lose money at at rate of $200,000,000 a day. That can't be sustained much longer. It's just not good for any of us.

He doesn't need food, Viagra and beer should suffice, actually, maybe just beer!

Not making light of the seriousness of the situation, but I'm kinda curious who's gonna be the first knucklehead to file suit against God or Iceland or the airlines for being stranded due to the volcano? You KNOW some lawyers out there are salivating at the thought.

There's only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch.

I wanna buy you a case of scotch. And not because I hate the Dutch, I love going to Holland. Great culture, but after back to back redeyes that post was funny as hell.

I shall bring the cigars my friend. Habubuaza has a bead on the ladies.

All we are missing now are some volcanically heated spas...
