If you don't like hearing anything..

As far as the inside, well that's what ear plugs are for. As far as the outside goes, it will be a sad day when there are no more CJ-610s screaming on takeoff. I still love watching a 20 series takeoff, what a great sound! Especially when its cold out.

727 does the same thing for me, i love that booming,crackling JT8D thunder !
 
Kalitta Air (747's) from what I understand is that they were at a job fair just rescently. Do yourself a favor and go accross the field and meet the CP, he a is very nice guy.

Good post from Koru with some good ideas, but as an American citizen I still advise to stay away from U.S. contract agencies. Therefore GAP for KAL and HACS for Japan are probably not the best idea. Not that there is anything wrong with those agencies, but life is far simplier if you do not get a 1099 form from your employer. I would reccommend either Cambridge Communications ( very good reputation ) for KAL or PARC ( also good ) for Japan if you are a U.S. citizen.

I would avoid Rishworth based on their reputation.

All that said, as a 737 First Officer your options are limited. It's far easier to get a job as a captain on the foreign contracts. Others that hire first officers are Cathay Cargo, Viva Macau, Gulf Air, Air Arabia, China Airlines, EVA Airways, Jazeera Airways, Saudi Arabian, Saudi Aramco, as well as those mentioned by Koru. You might try to get a recurrent session in the CRJ and that could put you in a position to get a CRJ captain position somewhere like Arik in Nigeria as well as some of the Chinese operators.

Sim Instructors:
FlighSafety and CAE/Simuflight are the biggest. They are DESPERATE for sim instructors. NetJets would have tons more aircraft, pilots and customers now, but for a shortage of sims, sim time, and sim instructors.



FAA ATC is also DESPERATE for controllers. Under 31, no experience necessary: Take a test and if pass make about $33K in training. Start at $38K+.

Yeah, I was lucky.

I got my falcon experience, my type, and my 1000 PIC jet, and then went to the -9. I was on the -9 and 5 years senior to the most senior -9 guy laid off (if you don't count B.C.-that was a crock!).

I am in capt IOE now in MCI with Dennis C. (he went off the street to the -9 in about '98 and made capt in a year or so).

I just met a SWA capt who I knew and is now recommending me-she and her hubby (D&D based in OAK) are the only two SWA people I know, and I didn't know they were at SWA until last week. She originally went to AA and got furloughed.

One of the Falcon Check Airman that was furloughed is OK, though, because he should be at SWA by next month-been in the pool since Sep -07.

Maybe I'll be your FO in a couple of years???

So are the Falcons going to be for sale?

This is the $55,000 dollar question! Does anyone know where they are going? I'm guessing that wherever they end up they will be needing crews, and that they would prefer to hire people with time and/or types in the Falcon already. I have a hard time believing that they are just going to be parked at the end of the ramp and from what I was told they are never coming back on-line here.

For those of you without ATPs you can check out the Michigan "No worker left behind program." Looks like if you are on unemployment they will pay for the training. Also, I have spoken with a couple of our guys that do not have CFIs that might be interested in getting one. I think they might pay for that too. I don't know about type ratings yet, that is what I am interested in. Never turn down free training (unless of course doing it means having to pass up a class date).

Freight Runners Cessna 402 Position

I know this may be a step backward for some of you laid off guys, but we are looking for a Cessna 402 Pilot to be based in Baraboo, WI (KDLL). The route begins Monday PM at 18:30 lcl and fly DLL-MKE Monday through Friday PM. Layover in a crew house in MKE then Tuesday-Saturday AM Fly MKE-DLL with a 6:20 lcl departure. Layover at home approx 10-11 hours during the day Tues-Fri and off after arriving on Sat AM until PM show on Monday night.
