Hiring advice: Get hired by the worst major at the time, because there is more upside.

...and also make sure all your friends get hired at every career airline/major OTHER than the one you get hired at so when if the big F comes your way you've got buds that can walk your stuff in elsewhere - and viceversa if it happens to them.

How long one the 190 for a new hire?

Sounds like new hires are going to the 190. Is there a seat lock? Any estimate on how long it would take to bid off the 190 into the Bus, or bigger?

99% sure the 190 is one year seatlock.

With regards to this class,
I am one of at least 3 people that I know that are off-the-street new hires in class for Jan 7th.

Hope that helps-heard anywhere from 4 to 8 new hires in this class.

Jump seating...a 73 Captain stated, it's no longer "watch what yousay/do because your FO may be your next chief pilot", but "watch how you treat your paper boy because he may be senior to you one day."

FWIW, saw USAir(ways) posted a good size pilot ad in this month's ATW mag. Don't know if an ad in ATW is the first place I'd put an ad for pilots.
