For those interested, the wreckage of TWA 800 is on a framework stand at the NTSB academy in northern Virginia. They take you through it during some of the courses there. Very interesting to crawl rough it and see how it broke up. They go through a few of the conspiracy theories while at the airplane.

Actually, it's a lot easier to ignore facts and science and believe a bunch of crackpots.

Hey union thug -

Are you calling former ALPA accident investigator, Jim Speer, a crackpot?

Do you know Jim?

I don't know Jim, but he's seriously misguided if he thinks a missile hit TWA 800.

Ditto to what JimNtexas said.

Yet Another subject PCL has anointed himself an expert on.

Clearly not the case. I am deferring to the experts. You are the one deciding that you are smarter than they are and disputing their report. Your arrogance is astounding.

So ALPA's Jim Speer isn't an expert?

.

The best accident investigation experts work for the NTSB.

...and they were told to ignore what they found and come up with a different answer more palatable to geo political realities of the times.

The "experts" were not allowed to do their job.

You mean like NTSB accident investigator Hank Hughes?

HANK HUGHES: My report, which was 496 pages in length, or thereabouts, with photographic supplement, was cut and amended without my knowledge. When I did find out about it, I complained. Nothing was done. We were required to provide a factual report, but ordered not to write an analysis.

KRISTINA BORJESSON: What? Could you say that again?

HANK HUGHES:
We were directed to write a factual report, but not an analysis.

KRISTINA BORJESSON:
What would your analysis have been?

HANK HUGHES:
The primary-primary conclusion was the explosive forces came from outside the airplane, not the center fuel tank.

TOM STALCUP:
Would that statement have been in your analysis?

HANK HUGHES:
If I got to write one.

Hank Hughes, whose experience was largely in automobile accidents, is the one - and only one - who worked for NTSB. All the others were part of the probe through their employers or unions.

Jim Speer, as a member of the Air Line Pilots Association, Bob Young, with TWA, Charles Wetli as the medical examiner of Suffolk County and Dennis Shanahan, on loan from the Army Aeromedical Research Lab.

Granted, these men are not crackpots. And in my earlier review of the film, I was most swayed by the fact that with the exception of Hughes and Speer, who I have never met, I know and respect the other men named. Likewise, Tom Stalcup, the man behind the missile-theory-that-won't-die is an educated physicist and a seemingly good-hearted person.

It's flat out hyperbole to say that these men are "breaking their silence". They may be many things, but silent is not one of them. I'd be a rich woman if I was paid by the hour for all the time I've spent listening to these guys. Despite their apparent good intentions and impressive resumes, when it comes to their theory about what happened to TWA Flight 800, they're simply wrong.

Says the guy who was a kid when this happened. What makes you an expert? Same thing that makes you an expert on every thing else? Because you say so?

Just watched TWA800 documentary

I'd like to hear more excuses why there isn't a new investigation ON THE ACTUAL INVESTIGATION-

Why on earth was the FBI was running the investigation

Over 700 witnesses

What a strange CIA video
