Be aware that there is a domicile system in place at NetJets for all new-hire pilots. If you do not live near LAX, DAL, CMH, TEB or PBI you WILL have to commute. If you don't want to commute then DON'T COME TO NETJETS! The earliest that you will ever see home base privileges is when the next contract is ratified.

I am sick and tired of new guys bitching about how it sucks so bad for them because they have to commute, or hearing about letter writing campaigns to Mr. Santulli, or Derinda told me I would have home base privileges in a year, or(my personal favorite) "the company wanted to give HBAs to everyone but the union said no."

If you want to come to NetJets and be part of our team, great! We welcome you. But don't come here and bitch about your commute. It is allready starting to get old. For those of you that are allready here and whine more that a National Guard Blackhawk pilot in the field, shut up or find a job closer to home. The rest of us no longer have sympathy for you.

start drinking a little early today?

or(my personal favorite) "the company wanted to give HBAs to everyone but the union said no."

.
Well, in a way, the union did say no. What if the company said no HBAs to anyone, no matter how long they have been on property? So much for the meaning of union. Sounds like the honeymoon may be coming to an end for many in the union.

Nope you're wrong jonjuan. The union has allways been upfront and honest about what the deal was. If the company said no HBA's for anyone they would be violating OUR CONTRACT and there would be heck to pay.

The company and the union are living up to their ends of the bargains. The company can open HBA's today if they want but they don't want and too many new hires think that the company will all of a sudden develop a soft spot for them. Nope isn't going to happen.

Don't plan on HBA's opening up till next contract or you reach the magic percentage. Past that everything else is a pipe dream.

Remember "IF IT AIN'T WRITTEN IT DON'T EXIST"

In Addition!!

If you are coming to NetJets, ask yourself how long you are willing to work for FO pay.

Even if this company gets to the often stated target of 5,000 pilots, any pilot with a seniority number after about 3000 will only get to captain via attrition, not growth. And attrition at NetJets will not be as high as at the majors since we don't have to bug out at 60.

You will top out as an FO here at around the mid/upper 40's. Are you willing to work for 40's for many years to come? The majors will pay FO's much better over time.

With all the bitching now about domiciles, just wait! Pay will be a bigger issue by far when folks coming in towards the end of this year realize just how long they will be working for low FO wages.

Food for thought :(

you are right, but after year 5 on classes 1-3 you gain cola each year wich is only 2.5.% right now. class 4 and 5 pay scales are different, you don't start cola until year 10 on those pay scales.

you're right though, you better be ready to live on the FO payscale for the long term.

I think we are up to 2800+/-.

Another thing for the Domicile pilots, park in the most expensive parking lot. The company has to reimburse you for this, and the contract doesnt say it has to be a cheap parking lot. Maybe, just maybe, they will want to talk about HBAs if everyone has expensive parking bills.

Real smart!

I'll paraphrase RTS...."Do you want to go to the next contract negotiations with 150 Million/year in profit or 10 Million? The choice is yours."

Heck we got a payraise with a loss.........

Its all smoke and mirrors. I'm just counting down the days till we start hearing that we can't make any money again.

Maybe you shouldn't have voted in a b scale tool! You got what you wanted and sold out all that come behind you. Most new hires have no idea what they are getting into when they come here and most realize that this job is not worth the comute until it is to late. So deal with them until they find a new job because it was you who sold them out.

Haven't you heard of fuzzy math? It doesn't matter what kind of waste is going on; the company will always lose money during negotiations.

Smart huh?

Yes, I have heard of the "fuzzy math" conspiracy. Look, maybe the company does hide money....who knows. Neither you nor I have any actual evidence of this happening. (Yes, we all know about the $50 quarts of oil yada yada yada.)

But comon man, Company/Union political matters aside....do you really think it is smart to tell someone to spend all the money they want to just because there is nothing in the FOM/Contract to dictate that? Just doesn't make to much sense to me bro.:pimp:

Everyone who agrees to come to NJA now is voting "YES" on the CBA by accepting the job, just like the majority pilots on property did, so no one sold anyone out. As long as the "YES" votes keep showing up there will be no changes in the basing system, at least not until the next CBA.

Enjoy the free type rating and no training contract.

You obviously do not understand how to play hardball. Hit them where it hurts. I am sure the company pi$$es away more money on executives than they do on paying for some parking at airports. If they do not set guides lines then you are free to pay/charge what you want.

Makes perfect sense to me bro. ;)

Its the companies choice. If the parking amounts get out of hand, maybe they will relax the Domicile issue. The ball is in their court. I am guessing that all pilots above the 2000 seniority are Domiciled. That means the company is paying parking for about 800 pilots. Mine alone is $230/month (x 800 pilots=$184,000 per month). Maybe this alone will relax the domicile issue. If not, THEY are the ones wasting money, not me.

I guess someone missed the thread about the 143 million profit NJ made last year. Not thinking paying for parking is going to bankrupt the company to soon.

Yall are comical.

Not comical. Dead serious.

13.2(c) Domestic Domicile Openings and Closings
The Company may open new Domiciles at its discretion, however, a Crewmember
assigned to, or who has designated a Domicile, cannot be involuntarily assigned to a
different or new Domicile, except as may be provided elsewhere in this Agreement. The
Company agrees to provide 90 days written notice of new Domicile openings to the
Union and all crewmembers. The notice to the crewmembers may be sent via the
Company-issued communications devices.

The company can decide to save tens of thousands (if not hundereds of thousands) of dollars RIGHT NOW by sending out a 90 day notice. Do you have ANY idea how much money NJA pisses away on these stupid domiciles? I wish I had a number...

Kind of makes parking costs seem like a drop of water in the ocean don't it???

Guys, you are missing my point. I am not arguing that at all....maybe the domicile issue does need re-evaluated. What I am arguing is the fact that someone told all new hires to park in the $8/day lot instead of the $6/day lot just to prove a point how powerful you guys are. THAT is what is comical.

Let me reverse the scenario. You call me on your last day and say there is an XL ferrying to your gateway. You ask if you can ride on that ferry. I say "no", just to prove to you how powerful we are. Doesn't make much sense bro. (In case some of you are wondering, we, well at least I, would never do that intentionallly without just cause.)

Look, I know what I am in for when I come on this board. It's like a Blood crack dealer dealing in the Crip hood. You guys see me as "management" and that is fine. The truth of the matter is that I am a blue collar worker just like you and I am trying to provide for my family (BTW, I have my first child on the way. Scared $hitless about that one.) I can't change what is going on with the company and the union. But, some of you guys, not all, treat me as though I am management and you take your frustrations out on me. I understand that I may be one of the bad guys in your eyes, but trust me, we all are working for the same goal. I just don't agree with parking at the $8/day lot when the $6/day lot is available. That's all.

You may continue with your beatings.

Wow, company hacks ready for negotiations. I love it, where's bagdag bob's icoms? I can't wait. I listened to your boss throw the FM's under the bus today and then managed to piss off an entire room full of pilots in doing so. Good luck on the second floor, you'll need it.

Heck we got a payraise with a loss.........

Its all smoke and mirrors. I'm just counting down the days till we start hearing that we can't make any money again.

And this lying doesn't concern you? What makes you believe that NJA is actually making money? What if they are simply moving numbers around? Do most pilots want to bet their families future on it? Disturbing. Where's NJA wife when we need her most?

What makes you so sure I voted "yes"? And if I did, explain to me how I could sell someone out that has yet to work here. If a new hire is so clueless that they "have no idea what they are getting into when they come here", then I have even less sympathy.

Nope doesn't bother me a bit because the airline you're going to schedule me on is going to get in late and either go past 14hrs which I won't do or get in after midnight. Either way its a good chunk of change. :)

Mgmt is pretty clearly defined. You are just the point of contact. Like we are with our owners.

Sometimes it sucks being the messenger.

I don't really care. Paycheck keeps getting deposited.

The day it doesn't I know there is a problem.

First of all, a sincere congrats on the new baby man! You are obviously an intellegent guy, you'll be a good parent.

FWIW, I feel that the screen readers have a thankless job and for the most part are doing thier best. Kudos to you.

Having said that, you know as well as I that people in management read this. They know how the pilots feel about the domiciles (they should by attrition alone) and maybe they think they have a bargining chip for negotiations in 2009 (they don't). Opening domiciles is solely in their power. The ONLY other thing we can do, (screaming obviously doesn't work) is to hit them where it hurts. It isn't personal, it's business.

You might find it comical, I take it seriously. QOL is a huge issue.

Actually, you'd say, "hang on, let me check with scheduling."

I understand that I may be one of the bad guys in your eyes...
Not at all. You're just the go-between. Things would be a LOT different if scheduling had to reduce themselves to actually talking to us directly.

I just don't agree with parking at the $8/day lot when the $6/day lot is available. That's all.
It's one of the few tools we have at our disposal to display our displeasure at the domicile system. The domiciles cost the company money relative to HBAs, and parking is one issue that adds to that cost. BTW, the only domicile with $6 and $8/day lots is CMH. Double it, add a couple bucks, and then you're talking about the daily cost of parking in places like LAX, PBI, and DAL.

My parking is $18.00 a day @ the terminal. Sometimes I use valet at $24.00 a day which is SWEET!
