Why would they bother going through the expense of picking up 20 (give or take a couple) 145s?

If this is real (and I doubt it) I bet the airplanes would be sourced from SKWs current CRJ fleet. They will need homes as the Midwest operation implodes. I hear Republic is getting out of the CRJ market soon too.

There will be no deal approved by the XJT pilots.

Jerry Atkin and Larry Kellner want XJT pilot blo jobs.

I would rather struggle to the end, furlough on our own accord if needed, cut branded (happening every month), expand charter, and wait for Mesa to die to pick up what scraps we can with our redeployed branded planes and the next batch of airplanes Continental will refuse back to us.

I thought we were going to hear a serious business proposal to maybe give XJT a better future. Well try again. Branded gone (fair enough). LAX Delta gone to Skywest (why? DAL likes the product XJT is supplying there, otherwise they could have had SKW do it in the first place). They would get control of the CAL flying and will use the new XJT subsidiary (gee thanks) until CAL lets their scope go, whereupon XJT pilots will be screwed anyway when SKW put Skywest Airlines 70-90 seaters on the CAL flying. They didn't even mention our charter cash cow which is set to double this year.

What a deal!

Jerry A$$h0le.

Before you reply anymore, let me summarize what you'll say. Circle Jerk, SkyWest, Kool-aid. Wouldn't you agree?

Ah, the Circle Jerks. They were one of my favorite Southern Cal skate punk bands of the 80's along with Youth Brigade, Black Flag, Minor Threat and many many others. Mmmm, then an ice cold glass of Kool-Aid after sessioning the pool/halfpipe..... Anyway, back to the present. Where were we now?
Okay, back on the subject- Here we go again, another new day of SkyWest bashing..yawn..Carry on as you were.

I seem to remember the LAX flying being done by ASA?!

How can you complain about loosing flying that you took over at someone else's expense?

You know, these were same kinds of things people were saying when SkyWest INC. bought ASA. Now you don't here that. Now you don't hear about how the ******************************bags over at SkyWest Airlines are going to get all of ASA's flying eventually. NOW you hear how well ASA is doing and how Brad Holt is kicking SkyWest Airline's butt in certain markets. NOW I hear how SkyWest may lose flying to ASA if we don't compete. Is it a whipsaw? YES. However, ASA isn't going anywhere, I dare say they'll be growing eventually. If ExpressJet get's bought, I don't see why it would be any different. Three separate companies, three separate pilot groups...whipsaw heaven...but in that scenario the union guys definitely have the advantage by 2 to 3(single list petition anyone?)...so other than the loss of branded flying and a few RJ's in LAX...what's the cause for 700 guys on the street? Oh, and there is a clause in ASA's contract about transfer of airplanes, isn't there? Some kind of protection from that. Can't you guys do the same?

If you think any professional pilot is happy to see another on the street...thing again. I was furloughed from ExpressJet...that's how I ended up at SkyWest. I chose to stay because I'm closer to home with this company. I very easily could have come back to ExpressJet. If you think my opinions would change if I HAD come back to ExpressJet...you are wrong. There is empirical data to support what I say...all you have to do is look at the ASA buy out.

Branded, Delta and charter are 25% of the fleet, hence the expectation that 25% of us are on the street. My question is would the 25% drawdown come from the current seniority list or from the highpoint 6 months ago. If the latter is the case, the sting wouldn't be as bad.

SkyWest President C.C. has mentioned tat SkyWest airlines (not inc.) is working with the FAA to add the ERJ 145 to the operating cert. must be some truth in the deal.

10,
Nice job with the spike/gelled hair, is that an iPhone your main man is holding? you just need ear buds and the pic is done!
PBR

So go ahead burn it down, you dont "own" the airplanes so your protest will make as much sense as the idiots that burned their neighborhoods during the LA riots!
I don't necessarily agree with anything that has been proposed...but this pretty much sums up the whole "burn down the house" mentality.

So what's the deal? Did SKYW Inc buy them already? I thought XJ shut the deal down, what the hecks going on?

what the hecks going on?

for now, scenarios are being proposed and deals considered, that is all...plus lots of chest thumping, prideful rants and empty threats here at good ol' FI.com

all that and 2 bits might buy you a stick of gum, for what it's all worth

So in other words...NOTHING. To the XJ guys complaining about losing their LAX base, I feel your pain. I remember the way it felt when I had to move out of there because we lost our base when YOU took it from us.

Skywest would be getting the Delta flying in LAX too, and no more XJT scope.

FWI, SKW was always going to get the LAX DAL flying all along... XJT was just a placeholder until the UAX non-compete thing could be worked (which it has been). Everybody at SKW, and everybody I know at XJT, knew this all along...

So let me get this straight.

SkyWest, Inc. buys ExpressJet, immediately furloughs 700 pilots, then transfers a handful of airplanes to SkyWest Airlines. SkyWest pilots get to continue their rightful 2 year upgrades while ExpressJet at best turns into the next Eagle and at worst turns into the next ACA.

And this is somehow a good thing? Because they were "saved"?

Your name says it all. Big shot! LMAO

, whereupon XJT pilots will be screwed anyway when SKW put Skywest Airlines 70-90 seaters on the CAL flying. .

Any jet flying larger than 50 seats will be flown by Continental pilots only. Our scope is only going to become stronger with our current negotiations. This is good news for people looking to move on from their current jobs.

Please stop with the scare tactics. You're just flaming away here with this nonsence. You sound so stupid and ignorant.

Please enlighten me, oh wise one. How exactly am I stupid and ignorant? Will the above statement not happen? Is that not Jerry's plan?

It would seem perhaps that if a deal isn't done soon that on June 30 CAL pulls 51 ERJ's from XJet which Skywest may already have a CPA in place for. 51 ERJ's to Skywest and the negotiations continue.
Sign off on the deal now and keep the planes or lose them and keep negotiating. Now that's hardball.

Reread the letters (SEC.gov). Skywest has a CPA if they buy ExpressJet. CAL will remove 51 airframes in Dec 2009 and let the current CPA expire in 2012 unless ExpressJet gives CAL comparable rates to what Skywest just signed. The gotcha is that the latter does not look likely.

I can't believe SKWers are bashing the XJTers here that are concerned for their jobs. This transaction is NOTHING like the one that acquired ASA.

I don't work for either company, but under the terms that have been discussed here there is no way I would vote to immediately sacrifice the bottom quarter of my seniority list just so flying can be transferred away every 12 months to the lower-cost "saviors" at Skywest.

Without a rock-solid agreement from SGU ensuring XJT pilots would fly the 205 airframes currently in CAL colors for the length of the contract term, I'd personally give concessions to XJT management so they can lower their margin to maintain those airframes with CAL.

Any SKW pilot licking their chops for IAH, EWR or CLE domiciles and/or the upgrades that would follow an XJT furlough should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

Good post, Boiler.
I would personally like to know how SkyWest intends to make good on their lowball CPA. Through economies of scale?? I think not. By replacing XJT pilots with lower paid SkyWest pilots or, god forbid, a B-scale contract? That sounds more like it.

Apparently CAL mgt has different ideas as they have language in a new CPA related to larger aircraft. Good luck with negotiations, it's worked out well for XJT. (That's sarcasm)

.

They would if they could but Skywest had a scope claus with United couldnt fly for two airlines out of the same hub. Thats why ASA did it. Skywest is just taking it back.

Larger regional aircraft for CAL? Ummmm...read a couple posts above but as far as I can tell, the CAL MEC has no intention of giving up their jobs (scope) so that a regional can fly big RJs around.

I love how SKWY included that if XJT gets larger aircraft, they could be flown by us.....Gee Thanks! Could I get the $5 override too???? Gimme a break.

You think the money SKWY brings in off of those monster-RJs is only worth whatever little override they give the pilots? It's sad to see guys satisfied with that.

My Vote- HELL NO.
