WTF do I care about the differences. UPS is a desirable job because of the contract their pilot union negotiated, just like FedEx is a desirable job because of the contract their pilot union negotiated. When you get your NW contract in gear, let us know. Stop being so defensive and realize there are certain arguments you simply aren't going to win. Good luck with the merger, hope you don't get furloughed.

Since this is a thread about ALPA (hating) the point was the IPA pilots hate their contract more than the FedEx pilots...

Simply put... ALPA delivered.

The IPA didn't have the resources and skillset to do so... if they'd been ALPA they'd have pilot favored CBA, not a company CBA. One just needs to look at the FedEx CBA to know...

Thanks... not going to get furloughed...

Great, ALPA will be sued out of existence and all of the National leaders will do time in prison. Do you actually believe this could happen?

Tell me which "new" national union will be immune to the RLA? Which union will control Congress? Which union has the "guts to shut down the system"? Again, stop the delusions and figure this sh*t out. Nobody that receives a "by the hour" paycheck, is ever going to influence airline management. They don't care, and the law clearly says that they don't have to. It sucks, but burying your head in the sand isn't a defensible argument.

It is easier... to blame the organization that is to listen. Blaming management or gov't is futile... and the haters know it... because the haters can't get mgmnt and gov't to even take notice of their fustrations...

Come on. Do you really think the Cargo guys made out so well because they've discovered the magic negotiation tactic? The one that ALPA in 7 decades hasn't figured out yet?

If they were losing money, beyond a shadow of a doubt, they'd be just has hosed as the rest of us. Why? Because they're hourly employees thats why. As painful as it is...no different than the other guy with the cool headset...manning the drive-thru at the Burger King. Management makes no differentiation between the two. It's MBA 101.

Though, if you are an RJ pilot I guess ALPA has been a good deal!!

As if that RJ job could exist outside of UAL w/o YOU voting it there.... :???

could it be that we all were lazy and didn't think long term and didn't participate in alpa and fight the corruption like we should have.

Funny how a democrat is chastising all those on this board for their victim-mentality.

Not a huge alpa fan= but they've generally been the short-sighted version of what YOU wanted.

The 3 best airlines right now are UPS, FedEx, and SWA....
Only one is ALPA....
What do all 3 have in common? They make money....
Shack, Even at FedEx pilots are moving backward thanks to ALPA. It's time for all airlines to dump ALPA. Seems the only pilots making progress are the ones with an inhouse union.

In this business a strong union is very necessary. Without a union and a contract our jobs would be hell. The power of a union delivers time and time again but in the case of ALPA they a fragmented to a point of self distruction. There is some power from within each airline itself, but unless there is a real national strength of unity then there is nothing. Each ALPA member should expect nothng from their union in the next few years. ALPA is nearly powerless to deal with the current situation.

care to provide a comparison of the recent UPS and FedEx contracts?
About as relevent as comparing a Mesa Contract to a Great Lakes Contract.

This presupposes that ALPA and the IPA were up against the same opponent. Two different Unions...Two Different Management Teams...Two different results. Net Result: Both are "good" contracts

because the haters can't get mgmnt and gov't to even take notice of their fustrations...
ALPA is the Bullhorn for the voice of the pilots...and the batteries are dead.

YGTBSM....How do you figure being counted as a second class citizen and having your job used as a bargaining chip at the mainline table is "a good deal"....

How can you complain? It was/is your choice not to move on, is it not?
