I tell what I will take LBB if you take Lagos. oh wait you already do. hold on what- how about those productivity brakes in ATL you do that to. Gimme a break!

Those long breaks in ATL are pretty much gone. And, I will take Lagos and Johannesberg over Lubbock and Midland Odessa any day. 3 guys stay in Lagos (or will stay in Lagos) a night when we do start that later this year, but I bet a lot more of you stay in Lubbock per night. But hey, at least you get to go onto Boise later the next day (after ABQ, PHX, SLC, PDX, and GEG). Enjoy that!

Most Europe layovers are 24 hours, most South American layovers to EZE, GIG, GRU, SCL are 36 hours. Central America and the Carib. vary.

We have a 24 hour layover in NRT (from ATL) which equates to a 28 hour 3 day trip, and the JFK--BOM trip has a 48 hour layover, and the leg from BOM to JFK can be 17 hours nonstop, with two full crews and an upper deck crew rest facility with bunks.

Talk about jaded. You probably avoid talking to crew members and run to your hotel room after buying beer. Great. And Lagos probably has great roasted Zebra or Rhino. Yummy. I'll take mine with Fiesta salsa!

If you like your layover in Omaha or Osaka.....who cares? I'd personally like my layovers funded by whatever airline will take me to retirement....only someone with a crystal ball has that info.
 
I just did 19 hrs in FLL on the beach. Spring break eye candy everywhere! General Lee doesn't like that so it must suck. Man that was awful! It was on a four day that only had 3 legs a day too. Wait GL says we do six or seven legs nevermind. At least it paid 36.7.
 
This is a question of culture, the two airlines are completely different. Where would you fit in best? In my opinion, this should be about quality of life because guess what.......life is too short to worry about money
 
Why are you so concerned about where SWA has layovers? Is everywhere you go in the Lear is new and exciting? Not bashing either......

Pop up trips must be nice. Nice hanging out at the FBO all day long.

You guys act like a newhire at Delta is going to fly international right out of class. By the time his 50's arrive, so will that international schedule..then he can lean a new airplane too. Something, I'd like to do in my 50's.... In a perfect World the international flying should be flown between the ages of 23-35.

I've been to LBB ONCE in 6 years and I saw that old man body builder there, that dude in his late 80's....

Ummm....I hate to be the bearer of good news to you sport, but the latest entitlement has newhires going to 7ER! That's right, Fev 2007 hires will be flying international by this summer

Well, going between DAL & HOU you won't have to worry about it. Based on your posts on here, I wouldn't want you flying ANYTHING, let alone having to learn a new airplane!

like someone said earlier it is totally a culture difference. Get to know the culture at both SWA and DAL...because they are as different as ever. It is common here at SWA to come down to the bar/restaurant and just hang out with a bunch of SWA people. All of the F/As and pilots hang out like it is one big happy family...I know that does not happen at DAL. SWA has a very down to Earth attitude in their culture and that makes a huge difference. DAL does not do that...that double breasted suite makes some (and I repeat SOME) DAL guys think they are God's gift to flying. They don't walk by...they levitate by. I love hanging out after work with 5 to 10 other crewmembers and just hang out. Shoot...the other day I hung out with two crews I met at the bar...6 F/A's (all under 35)....and had a blast. That NEVER happens at DAL simply because I don't think there is a single F/A under 35 there. If I want to go to Paris I will...on vacation with my family. It's all QOL...the rest is all the same. I could care less where we overnight...it's all who you work with. Paris with a bad crew is worse than LBB with a cool crew or two or three...that's a blast...that's SWA.

If international flying is so great how come NEW hires are getting it right out of training?

Not a whole lot to worry about between HOU - DAL. But what I never worry about is my next paycheck, if my company IS going to be getting new airplanes, my retirement money or if my company will survive bankruptcy.

I guess, you Delta folks like the long legs so you can think of all the problems you have on your way to your 28 hour European overnight w/ no money to spend cus your company took it away from you. But I guess, since the old lady went back to work maybe you can spend some cash.

I thought they looked pretty good last night. I was worried about HC, pretty solid team. Illinois gave away the game to Virgina Tech, I was really looking for the Illinois/SIU matchup. The rest of the family went to Illinois, that would have been fun.
 
Actually I think some of the best overnights are the Jacksons and LBBs. Since there is no place else to go the whole crew hangs out together at the bar and it really is a lot of fun. Of course lets not forget TPA P.M.'s

I think its called reality. Some don't like it. tough.
 
SWA/FU has zero credibility.

He admitted in an earlier post that he only got the job at SWA because his Daddy is a captain there. He even said that he never would have gotten the job if it weren't for Daddy. He's kinda like Flounder in Animal House - he doesn't really meet the standards, but they have to let him in because he is a legacy. He is so immature because he had his life handed to him on a silver platter.

Those of us who have had to earn our position in life are not as quick to put other people down. Everyone on this forum is just trying to get through life with a decent standard of living. This forum doesn't always have to be about throwing salt in another persons wound. It is so uncool to boast about your own success when there are still thousands suffering through furloughs, pay reductions, loss of retirement, etc.

From my experience, 99% of the folks at SWA (and any airline) are pretty nice. SWA/FU makes the whole Southwest pilot group look bad.

Beware the sin of Hubris, SWA/FU.
