Saw Lindsey last week. Asked about the type issue. Seems to be NO TYPE, NO INTERVIEW for now and possibly this year. I heard most of the Type Rating Schools are filled with pilots that have NOT interviewed, Chase could possibly verify this. Also big is CURRENCY. This could change if the typed candidates experience level drops to a low level. If you are on the fence, jump off now and get the Type. Good Luck!

Online application Jan 2004
Type April 2004
PIC Turbine = 1200 (this is my weak area; no PIC since USAF)
737-800 SIC = 630 and getting 78 more per month
USAF Stan/Eval (checkairman)
See to the left for the rest.
No call yet.

A contact with similar PIC/quals was told that it would be in the first half of 2005 for interviewing. Watching this board for the last year it seems to me that they working their way down the PIC list. Currently in the 1700s by my estimation. Your milage may vary. I'll post as soon as I hear something.

Looking to add a big "X" in front of my user name...

hey guys, I know this issue with or without the 4 year degree has been hit a bunch, but since this thread is sort of new and it has been mentioned(4 year degree), can anyone comment on someone they know or someone who actually got called without a four year degree?

I do have the AS from Riddle and working on the rest:

5900 total
2100 Turbine PIC
5000 turbine
1800 36 months
3 types
No 737, HPA class date Feb 21, 2005

advice, comments????

AMRCostUnit,

Spoke to another AA guy with the same plans to depart AA. His neighbor is a SW Capatin in DAL and he walked in his resume and specifically asked about the 1200 PIC. "First half" of the year was the Chief's response. Accurate? Dunno. If higher PIC guys come in with the types maybe not but we can only hope I guess.

Hopeful

As of last December, I gots:
4623 total
3115 Jet
3515 turbine
2166 Jet PIC
No degree but some college :(
Higher Power books in the mail! :)
I hope I become competitive with the type. Hang in there brothers, SWA will need all of us sooner or later with their expantion plans!

Mr Hat,

keep the faith dude!!!

good luck to all

...13 degrees North....

Navy737,
Most of the "Navy only" pilots I know are getting the call with somewhere near 2000 hours fixed wing turbine PIC time. (With the type, of course). Good Luck.

Johnny T, I have 135 background (civilian) , called for February interview. 4800TT, 2200PIC Jet/Turbine, and Type. Guam 360- I had a friend get hired w/out degree, but that was befor 9/11. He was a younger guy with a lot of experience.

FWIW,

I got the call with 5200TT, 1750 PIC, 4 YR College, 737 Type, and no CheckAir/ Eval pilot.

I think the 1700-1800 PIC is about right...

But what do I know!

Good luck to all!

Thanks, for the responses,

I feel good about the whole thing, I'll do my best when the time comes, just hoped a candidate or new hire that didn't have the "4 Year degree" would mention it...

Guam,

There are folks being called without 4 yr degrees...keep the faith...small in numbers but there are some:)

well I talked to a few Delta pilots (Ex military off course) the other day in the shuttle to the airport and they had a few military "buddies" who just got hired with NO 737 type rating and a lot less time than 4000-5000 hours TT.

Looks like SWA is the new Delta.....

GREAT, f****ing Delta military guys, I am not even going to consider applying if those coc%sucke7s are getting thier buddies to get them jobs.

I can't see them getting along with any small jet/ airline guy/gal, well gals maybe. pigs...

No type rating???what the he11 is that?

settle down Francis

the dudes in the shuttle van who "had some military buds" get hired could have been blowing smoke. In any event, it is far from confirmed 3-green down and locked fact.

Maintain present heading (building time, experience, etc) and don't let rumors, innuendo, BS, your barber's brother who lives next to a SW Captain, etc, alter your course

good luck
