Hey Dicko!
I didn't make any commentary. I think every airline (mine included) has had issues like these. In fact I believe our friends at the TSA have been involved with many more "False Accusations" than successful one's.

Fair enough.

I understand that you didn't make a comment. You did however post it in a 'SWA/AirTran Process agreement' thread.

There was already a thread addressing this subject at the time you posted it here. What was your point ?

I posted at 8:47. He/She started their thread at 9:06. If you are taking issue with "thread on topic" on this particular thread, then I think you are going to have a long day calling out all the guys talking about their breakfast, kids baseball games etc. Whatever!

Very true. I misunderstood the intent. Mea culpa.

No worries :)

So GK was lying to the WSJ?

I'm not calling my CEO a liar but I'm saying it's in the interpratation. The "growth" is coming in the form of the acquisition. There was no growth before at either company and in my opinion the yields will not support any growth afterwards.

Not entirely true. AirTran had hired 160 or so during 2009/10, up until the announcement in September. We also had taken deliveries. Captain upgrades were going on monthly. We had growth. All growth stopped when the announcement was made, but Captain upgrades continued. Not trying to start an argument or make it sound like I don't want to merge with SWA (ultimately that's what a statement like this gets twisted into), but I just wanted to point out a fact.

You'll be eating lower seniority for breakfast soon. It won't taste great.

OYS
OYS I love your agenda. Do you really think stirring the pot on Flight Info will save your job? This combined company will be a major source of problems for your financially weak one. If I lose senority in this deal it'll still taste better than your forthcoming layoff notice from DAL. What do you think happens to junior pilots after you lose over $300 million in one quarter?

Not to get into details but I think given the yields debt/leverage and route structure that AAI was at the end of its organic growth potential.

AirTran CEO Bob Fornaro stressed in a conference call with reporters on Monday that AirTran had "done a lot with not much" in terms of financial resources, but that it was becoming less clear that AirTran had the ability to grow and remain competitive in an industry where the size of a carrier's route network is increasingly important.

If I can STF - EVERYONE can do it! :D

Gup
Gup Am I still allowed to remind OYS that his company lost $300 million in the last quarter? Also am I still OK to point out OYS's agenda? He is very scared of the combined SWA/AAI. I would be too if I were junior at DAL.

Salad for lunch. It was very good.

I am.... you guys really don't want me to start cutting up this thread.. keep it clean and above the belt..

knock it off... clr4.. mod..

It was a joke. I'm sure he got it and wasn't offended.

Did you moderate based on your interpretation, TOS violation or a report from an offended reader ?

I'm betting that it was your interpretation of a joke you didn't get.

Straight from the Terms Of Service.

If you have a thin skin, don’t post. If you do, remember that there are many diverse opinions on this board and you may well encounter a scathing attack on yours. Don’t take it too personally. Logic and a civil tone seem to work best when debating a subject and it helps you gain respect during the course of your participation on the forums.

In other words...... I'm a big boy and have dealt WAY more jabs than I have received. Actually, I enjoy the banter of a sharp tongue.

Does that sound sexual?

All of the above.... In any case this thread is getting way off the beaten path, the PG rating is still in effect...

And Dicko... your record ain't the cleanest.. you have no room for judging me.. joke or no joke ... bantering with me gets you nowhere... please just follow the rules here.. My warning came as a result of a explicit sexual statement from another member, which was deleted.. it was not aimed at you, but if the shoe....

Save my job? That loss was due to the Japanese earthquake and resulting cutbacks (almost back to normal now), and high oil which has recently dropped 15% to below $100 a barrel. Look at the articles in Yahoo today about airlines, all got upgrades, and DL stock was up almost 3%, vs less than 1% for LUV. I think I'm doing great, and we don't have stagnation coming up like you do. You will lose seniority and stay there. We have retirements coming, which means upward movement. You know the rest.....

Riiiight. It's in the interpretation. Sure. Right. Tell that to the arbitrators, and their opinions actually matter.

OY6 - NO L I F E. Did you spout off about how great UAL was back in the day, you know, before they furloughed you.

Did you recover all your lost wages from that furlough. Do you have a furlough fund, for when Delta cuts flights and trims the last say 100 guys off the list (meaning you)?

Does Delta plan to recapture that flying that was OUTSOURCED to RJs?

Worry about your own house. We don't need or want your help.

I agree with you that we may be stagnant. But at least during our stagnation I will hold on to my job and not have masssive contract give backs. If history is a guide you will not. How long have you been on furlough from UAL? Ohh and during said stagnation I will be earning more than you until you upgrade as will every single AAI pilot.
I thought fair and equitable meant that no one was supposed to lose. I have faith in the process.
Your attempts to divide this pilot group are pathetic. If you are not scared of the competition that the combined AAI/SWA will bring then why do you spend so much time on something that you have no stake in?

OYS,

Mandarin chicken with a side of steamed veggies. Tasty but just not the same with a plastic fork (I prefer chopsticks).

Hey,

No hard feelings and i know you are trying to do your job.

My point was; "big boy games, big boy rules".

Take care,

D.

Hearing that some widebodies will be parked OYS, kinda like when United started parking 747-400 that were only a few years old. Looks like a rough summer for mother Delta..

RF

Incorrect. A much better Summer due to lower oil and previous fare hikes still remaining. The widebodies that will be parked actually were going to get lie flat seats anyway in the Fall, but it sounds good, right? They come back 3 months later. 2 744s will be returned to lessors in 2012,(not this year) and the remaining 744s will have increased utilization, since those 2 were mainly spares. Lower oil will really help. You did say we weren't going to make Q2 or Q3 profits, right? Look what the analysts are saying now.
