It took 7 friggin' months, but word is that the arbitration was won for the pilots today. Cease-and-desist order invoked on the company's disregard for the days off in row language. Details haven't been released; not sure what the arbitrator ruled on the (original) language of 5 days off in a row. Also, no punitive damages due the pilot group, so the company got a freebie for 7 months.

Hey, I'll take it. I missed too much of my kid's life these last 7 months. Finally getting back what I came here for in the first place.

That can't be right! ALPA actually helped pilots? I don't believe it! Doesn't the arbitrator read this forum? :)

In all seriousness, glad to hear it guys, congrats!

this whole railway-labor act and arbitration/mediation thing is a complete freaking joke.

you said it perfectly -- no punitive damages and the company got a freebee for 7 months--- but hey they cant do it anymore- shame on them-- (can you insert a nice hand slap here)

what will they screw you over on next- or are currently screwing you on.

Nothing in my in box about it. Not that I want to believe. If we did win the company will get March too.

There should be a ridiculous punishment to companies when things like this happens. There is no incentive for the company to avoid arbitration. They can freely test any part of the contract they want with no consequences if they're wrong.

Nor do they have to abide by the decision...I find that just amazing, the pilots loose we are forced to stick to it, the company looses they should abide, but don't have too.

I agree there should be monetary punishment to management, APA got huge fines when they staged a slow down several years ago.

And as you know hockeypilot44 our previous employer used that tactic 100% of the time...even for slam dunk they-were-wrong-you-were-right cases.

Still no confirmation... good news for commuters and the pilot group as a whole... hopefully the first in a line of decisionss that go our way...

we'll see if this translates into more furloughed being brought back.. but i'm not getting my hopes up yet

Does that give you an indication of who really controls power and wealth in this country.... hint: it isn't labor.

Rumors are almost always good news...

...it should be 5-7 crews recalled, so 50-80 folks back, I'd bet 50% take it.**

**If it is true.

Yeah, no official word yet; one would assume that the MEC is working on the language of the official release to the pilot group. I got my info from the guy I was flying with yesterday who is "in the know" with someone in the MEC. He got the call while I was sitting in the seat; seemed legitimate.

As for recalls-- someone on the "other" board claimed that while he was in recurrent last month that someone in management (Ole? Anderson?) told them to expect 15-20 recalls if the pilot group won the arbitration, then another 15-20 due to the increased flying for the summer schedule. Of course, that would equate to a total of 30-40 recalls if this were an accurate assessment. Let's hope so-- that would go deep into the number of guys/gals that would want to/need to come back.

I was told that the MEC only got the draft version from the mediator. They can't actually make an official announcement until the finalized version is out. I guess, for now, all they can do is to "leak" the info.

However the decision was made, and it is in our favor. We will go back to the old system of 4 off with some 5 off. I personally don't remember seeing a lot of 5 off. But I have not been around too long at NK. On the ghetto board someone mentioned we would get 5 off. Unfortunately that is not correct.

Looking at the March lines, how the credit is very low around 72-74 in FLL with a ton of reserves, I do not have my hopes up for a lot of recalls. They can easily increase credit up to 82 for the average line while not even reducing the reserve coverage. That is like 10%. Unless they expect an increase of flying beyond 10%, in my opinion, they can cover it without even recalling a single crew. It sucks, for me too, but that is what I see looking at the March bid package. I hope I am missing something.

They are not going to redo March lines/schedules to comply...however the scheduling committee has gone in to HQ and rerun the lines using the 4/5 day off scenario using the current months schedules (this was a few months ago) and found that we would need 6 more crews to staff the schedules using 72-75 hours with 4 and 5 days off as opposed to the 82-85 hour lines with 1, 2, or 3 days off.

I'm not doubting the validity of the results of the arbitration, obviously it would be nice to hear this from the MEC as soon as possible...

Obviously it would be impractical to alter the march lines, although I am sure the guys flying short lines wouldn't mind more time at home.

However if there is going to be a recall as early as April shouldn't we expect a vacancy bid and letters in the next couple weeks?

twelve furloughees will be recalled and six FO's will be upgraded (again)

You're on the scheduling committee, why don't you put out the good news?

Why hasn't the MEC published the good news? Could it be that the MEC was hoping for another couple of days of discontent to help the "prepare" campaign?

Not my news to put out...

...however we have reviewed the March lines to make them comply. Now, I don't know if that mean March will comply or if they are trying to figure out April.

My bet is 30+ recalls and 15 upgrades around the system.

I hope you are right. Would you mind sharing what makes you think it will be 30+.

Thanks!

Word is that Spirit is going out of business before the end of the year!

This same Idiot said the same thing last year.

Apparently, He was turned down after his interview. And now he's bitter because he's an RJ F/O, with no future.

Too bad.

Spirit is the MESA of the LCC world. The sooner they liquidate, the better.

Yeah, I remember this guy last year too. What a jacka$$. I'm not over on the regional board hijacking his Republic threads, preaching (truth) about how his overgrown RJ has screwed many a guy's QOL and earning potential.

Hey mclovin, sorry about the busted interview! But just think-- in 8 to 10 years you too can upgrade and
bask in all the flying you're taking from a mainline carrier! You seem mighty proud of that E170!

since spirit didn't get a contract during the Bush Administration, they're screwed. Give it a few months and we'll have an industry leading contract with FULL BACK PAY from amend date, once the NMB is reformed...

I like the way you think.

After the NMB goes pro labor, the pilots will be able to win on two fronts. We will finally be able to win arbitrations in a timely manner, and we will be able to beat Spirit at the bargaining table if it comes down to super mediation or arbitration.

Last I heard was 12 recalls. Yet will we need any? The MEC proved to the company we could maintain the 4-day with the staffing we had when they first started this sh#t. Apparently this was simply a fork in the eye.

For someone who resigned before being fired at a regional (most likely Pinnacle), who sat unemployed for some time, who failed at NK in your first interview, who only got hired when Ole took mercy on you, ........

You certainly don't sound like somebody who really wants to be at NK. What's up with the attitude, dude?

BTW, I do not have any idea who you are. I just remember your posts over the last seven years.

And your point is? Could it be you have an axe to grind over our last spat and your attempting to drag me through the mud? Or are you just a dick! Real mature pal. I wont dispute anything. Your hero "Herb" was on the initial panel. Ole (love him or hate him) is a stand up guy. He took the time to research my story and found it to be true and gave me the break I needed. Again, how does this relate to this post?

I'm not sure if you've stated, yet I believe you are employed here (even though some of your posts you seem to act as if you dont)? I dont know and dont really care yet you also sound like one of the handfull on the spirit union busting board with your pro-company stance.

Exactly what "atttitude" are you refering to? I simply quoted (almost word for word) one of the MEC members, that proved to the company that we could maintain the present schedule with the present staffing without losing the four day off, in an effort to shine light on whether we would require to call any back or not. As far as wanting to be at NK, I dont have a single app. in anywhere else. I've always been optomistic that we could be a place to be. Recent company actions have put a strain on that optimism yet I'll remain hopefull. Now that our MEC has WON our 4 day back ( I know....Herb would never have lost it ....yada yada yada) I'm a bit happier. Dont confuse that with ready to bend over like you are.

BTW, I do not have any idea who you are. I just remember your posts over the last seven years.[/

Really.....you remember all of my posts for the last seven years. I did'nt know I played such an important role in your life. I dont know whether to be flattered or creaped out! As I've said before, you really need to get a life.
