SWA pay is good but won't go much higher in upcoming contracts. ALK is set to make a profit of 3-4 dollars per a share, for their size they are much more profitable and make a much higher revenue per seat mile. Market cap at ALK is over a billion which is very good for a company their size. You may ask what does this mean long term?.....It means they will eventually catch up to or surpass SWA in pay. I think in ALK's most recent contract they got a 20-30 percent raise, this did not happen at SWA.

Yes Max,but even with that 20-30% raise, ALK is still 20% behind us. When you are currently holding the 'bar' for the industry, the gains do get a lot harder to achieve. I would love nothing more than for someone else to actually best our rates. Until then, yep, COLA raises are probably about as good as we can get.

you can only go so high if the $$ to withstand it is there...look at UAL or DAL or any of the others...theirs were a lot higher than ours at one point and then the bottom fell out. look where they went. I am fine with what we have and a COL of some sort increase in years to come.....we still make a $hit load of $$.

I believe that LUV scope does not allow RJ's but a small prop
The new SWAPA contract doesn't allow domestic codeshare of an type. However there is nothing in the contract that prevents SWA from operating RJs or small props as long as the pilots who fly them are members of SWAPA and are on the SWA seniority list.

The funny part is that this 4 page thread started because someone on Pprune posted that they saw the AK MEC leaving SWAPA. This rumor was promptly squashed by several people at SWAPA. But I guess it is a slow news day so....... have fun......

Oh btw, I highly doubt that SWA is going to buy AK.
