So how about Skywest buys Mesa, pilots and all and integrates the seniority lists. Feel better now?
SKYW won't be happy until those planes are flown by 2nd year Captains, new hire F/Os fresh out of a 152. We will indeed see, the Freedom/DAL case will play predominantly in every Mainline CEO wettest dream...
 
That would be the right thing to do for employees but we all know that is not the way it usually works. But there is always optimism.

Merge my ass...all those Mesa/Freedom guys bragging how they took the Comair flying causing Comair furloughs. What about those guys families? Pretty sure the Mesa guys could care less. Getting the flying is one thing but to brag about it really displayed SOME of the Mesa/Freedom pilot mentality.

Merge sure, they can merge with the Expressjet/ASA side as long as they are stapled to the bottom.

They tried that. Mesa pilots and company did"nt want to play the game.. So USair and Skywest said we will do it another way. Thats what your seeing..
 
By operating old 100's in PHX with no APUs, at a loss. Sounds great. Enjoy the summer heat.

Well im not, nor will i be PHX basesd. But this is SkyWest were talking about. Im not saying we never defer a APU. But they seem they do the right thing and get them fixed fast. (in the summer)

They will be operating at a loss of around 600K a month when it is all said and done. Overall it will be less than if they left the CRJ100/200's in mothballs.

Not that I doubt your Xth-hand information, but with how OO has been buying older frames that've been sitting in storage, or even straight off another airline via straight cash, or possibly even getting some really sweet lease deals to keep them flying, they seem to be pretty much copying Allegiant's strategy here---except using their aircraft on a full schedule.

Cheap planes make low cost, and throw them away when done.

And that's fine because SkyWest made $6M off it's pro-rate flying last quarter, plus they are making very good money off Alaska at the moment. All SkyWest needed was a foot in the door at US Airways. But as a Mesa guy, I'm sure it sucks to be beaten at your own game.

After the money OO sunk into those planes to get them all up to snuff (ACARS/WiFi/FMS) consider it a loss anyways.
 
Folks, in spite of what one or two flamebaiters, who have no clue are saying on here, Skywest is not flying the U.S. Air stuff at a loss. Skywest doesn't have nor has ever had planes that were mothballed. Skywest has sold off planes that they owned outright or gave back planes when their leases were up. Skywest got great deals from other regionals who had planes that were mothballed. Yes, it's costing them money to retrofit the planes with ACARS, etc but that's pocket change to Skywest. I think Skywest's record on making money speaks for itself.

No wifi on those planes.. Anyway Delta pays for that. Im pretty sure FMS is standard on all CRJ's. ACARS yes. Its a 50k mod. But they usualy pull the unit out.
