FlySacto;1181491 You sold yourself out said:
How about I sell us all out by sending in my card, voting in ALPA so we ALL can take an immediate 2% PAYCUT, then sit around for 4 years or so only with the HOPE that we can even retain the things we have now?

how 'bout vote yes, then vote in the glee club. at least that way we get the raise and it'll become our defacto contract. if you vote no on the pay vote and then vote it in, you'll freeze us at the lower, current scale.

You sold yourself out, and your family, when you jumped on that proud yes vote of yours.

How about I sell us all out by sending in my card, voting in ALPA so we ALL can take an immediate 2% PAYCUT, then sit around for 4 years or so only with the HOPE that we can even retain the things we have now?

a better idea would be to vote yes, then vote in the glee club. at least that way we get the raise and it'll become our defacto contract. if you vote no on the pay vote and then vote it in, you'll freeze us at the lower, current scale.

Dude, I'm part of the vast right-wing conspiracy and have NO love for unions as a whole. The thing that sucks is they do have their place in the blue collar jobs, like flying has become. At least you've got the option to threaten to burn the M'thF'kr down when you keep getting dumped on :)

I'd like to think that the group would have said better done right or not at all. Do you think this was right? I'm a dreamer though and think it will pass.

That 4 years for a contract argument is getting old, had we voted in ALPA during the last ALPA drive in 1999 (not the UPA drive) we would have a contract by now and better leverage for a raise in leu of the company's record profits. Instead we have SAPA reps like you crying "it will be years befor we get a contract so lets not start now".

A 2% paycut for Union dues is better than a 1% bitchslap from management...

you'd rather make 3% less than 3% more? that's effectively a 6% PAYCUT.

if we'd voted it in years ago, what evidence do you have that we'd be better off today? please cite Comair, ASA, and Mesa in your reply. They are all DCI carriers who compete for the same business we do. would you trade places with any of their situations just to 'be in the club?' even if you want it, take the $ and run to the ballot box. why leave money on the table, only to voluntarily give up more?

Its called pride and integrity...

As far as Mesa and Comair goes, how much money did Mesa make in the last year? How well managed are they? You cant get anything when the company has nothing! Its common sense negotiating that SAPA dosent seem to understand.

Comair is in another boat...their parent company is BANKRUPT and I dont see many mainline flights being built up in CVG, how do you negotiate with that?

With ASA lets wait and see what happens...Ron already said ASA may be better positioned to do the flying in the 70's out of CVG that Comair lost, even with their current yet outdated (1999) and expired contract and pay scales.

Sorry SkyNation. Your math is all jacked up. Some would get 1% more and three minutes of time an hour here and there. Some get nothing, along with four years of nothing. No raise and paying dues doesn't yield a 6% difference. Again, was this the right proposal for us all?

Newman you are an embarassment to all Skywest pilots. "Live for yourself" is that a line you told a girl while wearing your pilot uiniform at the bar? Im on the bro, soon to be RJ and the $340 a year raise is not worth my dignity nor the message i send fellow pilots. What is that message you ask " ******************** you management keep filthy raise", no more personal cell phone use while holding short of the runway for mx, no more busting my balls to make an ridiculous 22 mst plane swap. And oh yeah i will vote for alpa so i don't have to fly struck work if ASA goes.

If you factor in inflation, by 2010 it will be a 12% pay cut. Not counting any union dues. And the margins stay the same but revenues and profits are up...so there's more money and the same margin. Nothing washes the right way unless you're skyw management

Amen bro!

Not a bad place to be but?

Wow 2010. Not to knock anyone with Regional aspirations but hopefully half of the 2500 pilots will have or be ready to move on somewhere else by then.
Remember your a liability at Skywest after 5 years.

As a side note, Why hasn't SAPA requested Ron R. or Jerry A. accompany Brad at one of the many pay (prayer) meetings? Didn't Woody the Sapa Legend have some big wigs present at past 80's/90's meetings?

A lot of pilots I fly with feel the same way as I do. We have quite good logical conversations about how life is pretty good at skywest. The internet brings out a lot of chest thumpers. In the end though it is mostly all talk. 2 days left to vote. Everyone should vote no matter how they feel about the pay agreement! We will all know soon enough.

If the agreement is voted down the conversation will go something like this. BH: so the pilots voted down the pay agreement again. RR: Sweet even more money we saved. I don't think it will send them any other message than that. They won't even blink. My parents always taught me never turn down free money. I think I will go with the wisdom of my parents over a few angry pilots on the internet.

Are you and "all those pilots you fly with that feel the same way you do" commuting to work together on the "short bus"?

SkyNate and NewWoman are a pair of young FO's with a bad case of SJS.
They are typical of the younger generation.
They're probably still playing video games in their parent's basement. The wakeup call that comes with a mortgage and a couple of kids will come later.

They'd sell their mothers out for the right price. Selling out their coworkers and thousands of pilots at other regionals for a couple of hundred bucks per year in override and a one percent raise is just the tip of the iceberg for these pussies.

I'm just hoping ASA pilots get a decent contract so we don't have to worry about a strike.

I don't live with my parents and I have a mortage. I am making all the bills and then some on FO pay. I also save into my retirement plan and still have a bit left over. I don't understand why guys get so angry when a guy just likes his job. I do my locals and 2-day trips and go home. I don't get all wrapped up in everything else. Life is good to me. I have a good schedule, plenty of time off, go on vacation all the time. I don't really have a care in the world at this point in time. I also admit I do not have kids at this point in time. Perhaps some day later down the road. I will wait until my fast upgrade comes for that so I can afford kids. I have been here over 2 years just waiting for the domicile of my choice. Why do you guys hate it so much when someone simply likes his job? Life is too short to be bitter. We are only here for a limited amount of time. Why not enjoy your life to the fullest? If aviation does not make you happy then find something it does. Bringing in unions and all that stuff, some guys just make this stuff way to complicated.

I find it quite hysterical on here that guys just love to find someone that is happy with his life and try to piss in his cherrios and try and teach me how bad my life is. Sorry I can think for myself and life is good! Later
