I'd like to see some of these idiots that bash SKYW pilots "ONLINE", come up to me and or any of my fellow crew members call me SCAB to my face in an airline terminal or better yet in an alleyway on the side of the hotel! If you got the balls go for it you little punkass bitches!!! I jumpseat every week to get to work and sit in the cockpit on Major airline carriers 80% of the time, and all those pilots (who are ALPA)say "Don't vote in ALPA" I have nothing against ALPA! and I'm listening if they are talking but sending me a gay little newsletter every 2 weeks and expecting me to join the ranks of the WANKERS I see on this forum is not going to win me over!!!! If ALPA is so great then sell us on it don't try to get me to join ALPA feeling sorry for ASA and Comair pilots. Their management is the reason they are losing flying not us!!! Funny how the F@$#s on this forum don't whine about Mesa getting Delta flying or Air Whisky getting USAir flying. And they won't say crap about it if ASA takes the 12 crj700s in CVG.

Fact is: SKYW Inc. owns ASA and all of its equipment! none of those airplanes are "yours" and none of them are Skywest Airlines. They can do what they want with them.

The Scrubs at Skyworst dont care about the override. Most of them have only been out of instructing for six months. It's not about how much money they are making now, it is about how their pay will double in another six months when they upgrade. SAD!!

Uhm, wanting a fast upgrade to captain is sad? Wanting your pay to double in six months is wrong? Wow, folks. I had no idea I was suppose to low-ball my potential earnings & PIC time so that the rest of the industry feels better about sitting reserve for 2 years with a 7 year captain upgrade. God forbid a hard working flight instructor have the opportunity to grow with a good airline. It's not a perfect airline, and apparently it has to be in the eyes of the rest of the industry, but it's a good airline. Scrubs? We're not all fortunate enough to be born with 30,000 hours turbine i guess. I'm pretty sure you're going to see more low-timers, or "scrubs" as you call them, at Comair and ExpressJet. Their minimums are 600/100. SkyWest is 1000/100. And let's not forget the 300 hour jet pilots at Pinnacle and Mesa! Grow up and welcome to the regionals.

skywest=scabs

Replacement workers at wages busting the union wages, 700/900 flying at 50 seat rates is a joke, this is bad for the whole industry and needs to be changed.

sky-pup,
I know airtime personally, I don't think you want to meet him in the alley of the hotel. Unless your a UFC fighting champ.

thanks viper. Not worth fighting over a bunch of underpaid, snott nosed kids thinking they are getting a head bashing alpa. To bad they will have to stay at Skyworst for the rest of their career

let it rain

I have not met anyone who says they voted yes. Why would anyone want to lock in 1% through 2010, and nothing for the bro? No cost of living since 2001, while inflation averages 3% per year. And now its 1% just this year, nothing more until after 2010(maybe).

Pssst....if you still feel this strongly come December, we're located under C24. I'm sure you'll find somebody to take offense with you.

I voted yes.

you have choices:

Vote yes-get more money, then vote in ALPA and give it back in dues and hope you can get more money later, like 2010 (when this comes up anyway)

Vote yes-get more money, reject ALPA and keep yourself from losing money via dues (but you do get neato stickers and a magazine), then hope you can get more in 2010

Vote no-refuse more money, vote in ALPA, lose more money via dues, then hope for more in 2010

Vote no-refuse more money, don't vote in ALPA, be pissed you turned down free money

however you feel, it seems you shouldn't turn down free money. take the $, then do what you think will improve things beyond that.

Within one year this "offer" will not be industry leading, as the SKYW charts show. ASA, CHQ, and MESA will all be negotiating beyond the pay rates on that chart.

Just because you negotiate it doesnt mean you will get it. I doubt Mesa's new contract will come close to Skywests. Neither will CHQ. I work for a company in contract negotiations, And there are some things that just wont happen, like wanting pay rates and work rules like Skywest.

Internet tough guy. Watch out everyone...haha

I like how you consider your pay "free money", like its a bonus to get paid to fly a 70/90. I'm glad you feel so good about locking in your "free 1%" through 2010.

Any Contract Mesa signs will be better than Skywest's.

Why?

Because at least their's are LEGALLY BINDING!:D

Peace.

Rekks.

LOL tell that to any Mesa guy whos contract is LEGALLY BINDING yet gets violated on a weekly if not daily basis. The company tells their pilots the same thing "grieve it". Sometimes the union drops grievances to get something else. Sometimes the grievances go on for months if not years. How about you ask some Mesa pilots about the Harris Award which has been on going for a very long time and still not complied with to my knowledge. I'm sure they will tell you how great the current grievance system is. Legally Binding doesn't mean anything when you work for someone like JO. Thanks for the laugh though that was just too funny. I think we all needed a good laugh.

Just because a contract is legally binding doesn't mean there aren't loopholes. The grievences can sometimes take so long that all you get after months of fighting it is an extra day off or two and maybe a little bit of back pay. Woot Woot, not! The current laws that ALPA has to work under simply do not work well. Until that changes I will not be voting them in. A legally binding contract may mean something but it doesn't mean much until the labor laws are changed. I will take the good life at skywest over that anyday.

At least when they have something to greive, they have a process for it, even if it does not come out in their favor.

Peace.

Rekks

The trap some of you SKW pilots are falling for is you think the good times you are enjoying are going to stay that way indefinitely. I upgraded in 2003 at CMR with barely two years seniority. Our contract back then was way better than most and life was good. In 2006 I was displaced back to FO and was already on a pay freeze. How times change. The same thing happened at AirWhisky. In 2000 AWAC was THE place to be.

As long as you are competing for flying with other regionals you probably will not be able to stay on top. The downward pressures built in to the system will see to that. We felt we were invinceable at CMR and I'm pretty sure the AWAC guys and gals did too. I wouldn't crow too loud if I were you because it tastes mighty bitter when you have to eat some later on. Trust me, I know. I thought we had it made until the wheels came off.

Good luck. Sincerely. Enjoy it while you can, but if I were you I'd hedge my bets and have an exit strategy.

Any predictions?

Nothing for the bro
14 cents/ hr. raise for newhires
current rates for the 50+ 1%
5% for actual block on the 70
the 90 will be paid the same as the 70
no reserve call out improvements
no 401k improvements
no trip rig
no vacation improvements
no minimum daily guarentee of 4.1
no retro
no cost of living adjustments
no time and a half for high average line hours
no transparent reserve list
no 18 duty day max

VOTE YES!!!! As long as they think it will secure more growth of course they will vote for it. They would most likely vote yes for concessions if it said they would get more aircraft (which is essentially what they did when they agreed to fly 70/90 seat aircraft for 50 seat pay).
