Our profit margin is not that great, around 5% post tax, maybe 8% pretax. I get a little tired of people talking about record profits. Yes it's true, but it's the profit margin that really matters. If our profit margin goes much lower then we start having problems getting the best financing deals and if we loose that advantage then we'll be looking at pay cuts for sure.
I think they can afford to do better than this package, but we should be realistic about the position managment is in.

Call ALPA. It's not BS. That language was in the Port Security Bill signed by the president. Luckily ALPA lobbyists were able to get it removed. Bush hates unions with a passion. We're lucky that Congress has been cleansed of the GOP majority. Those are politicians that would support allowing Chinese airlines to fly point to point in the US. They already started doing that by allowing Asian cargo carriers to make a fuel stop in ANC before continuing to the US east coast.
Know your enemy is all I can say. If putting food on your table and providing a future for your children matters to you, back the PAC. That is if you intend to remain in the piloting profession.

I called alpa national. They don't know a thing about it, but said they would do some research and get back to me.

I understand that but they should answer to the group they supposedly represent. What do they have to be arrogant about? They can't even negotiate a fair pay package. Obviously they are all on the RJ....otherwise they would be singing a different tune. It's a shame that everyone is so much about themselves to the point they just sell others down the river right in front of their face. I know I don't work there but I just wanted to tell them they should be ashamed of themselves.
What happens after that? The obvious logic if you're not happy with the pay proposal is to take the free money now, and vote in alpa later.
If you don't take the money and the alpa vote fails...then what?

It's not selling everyone else out. The brasillia boys have had a choice for years to come to the RJ. They decide not to which is their right. They like the base they live in and that is fine. The Brasillias days are numbered unfortunately. In 2003 when Mesa and their crap maintenance imposed all these weight restrictions is where the real problem lies. You can thank Mesa for no raise on the brasillia. No worry though there are plenty of openings on the RJ. The brasillia is a dying fleet anyway. We can all say THANKS MESA for that one.
