Pssst....if you still feel this strongly come December, we're located under C24. I'm sure you'll find somebody to take offense with you.
But ALPA has no control over that, they don't run the judicial system.
"ALPA has no control over that "...The battle cry of the mindless alpa apologists.
I don't give a f&ck about excuses, I want f*cking results ! I don't pay the judiciary or the company 2% of my salary, so I don't really expect much out of them...but if I'm going to give alpa money to represent me they had GD well better get with the program and start producing!!
The trap some of you SKW pilots are falling for is you think the good times you are enjoying are going to stay that way indefinitely. I upgraded in 2003 at CMR with barely two years seniority. Our contract back then was way better than most and life was good. In 2006 I was displaced back to FO and was already on a pay freeze. How times change. The same thing happened at AirWhisky. In 2000 AWAC was THE place to be.
As long as you are competing for flying with other regionals you probably will not be able to stay on top. The downward pressures built in to the system will see to that. We felt we were invinceable at CMR and I'm pretty sure the AWAC guys and gals did too. I wouldn't crow too loud if I were you because it tastes mighty bitter when you have to eat some later on. Trust me, I know. I thought we had it made until the wheels came off.
Good luck. Sincerely. Enjoy it while you can, but if I were you I'd hedge my bets and have an exit strategy.
I voted yes.
you have choices:
Vote yes-get more money, then vote in ALPA and give it back in dues and hope you can get more money later, like 2010 (when this comes up anyway)
Vote yes-get more money, reject ALPA and keep yourself from losing money via dues (but you do get neato stickers and a magazine), then hope you can get more in 2010
Vote no-refuse more money, vote in ALPA, lose more money via dues, then hope for more in 2010
Vote no-refuse more money, don't vote in ALPA, be pissed you turned down free money
however you feel, it seems you shouldn't turn down free money. take the $, then do what you think will improve things beyond that.
Seems like you forgot about your fellow EMB pilots my friend....they get nothing.
I will never vote for any pay package than gives a raise to only part of the pilot group. So much for unity. But let me guess, you're one of those hot shots know it all who has been with the company less than 2 years, and as usual, it's all about ME...
I find it ironic they call it a pay proposal when they're just 4 years late in adjusting the 70 pay, like they promised...
Voted "hell no" !

Not exactly true, over 15 hrs. refusal comes with it's own shiny SAD.Minor point here. NO ONE has an 18 duty day max in scheduled 121 ops...it's NOT LEGAL. Anything over 16 hours means you don't have minimum rest (8 hours) in the last 24.
At SkyWest, you will not be scheduled for more than 14 and any unscheduled day over 15 is with crew consent only (per Crew Policy Manual).

ALPA actually does produce. Before Congress went into recess, language inserted in the Port Security Bill stated: (paraphrased) “…Any legal strike by transportation workers may be interpreted as an act of terrorism, and would allow the President of the US to mobilize the military”. The bill went on further to state (paraphrased) “…If any applicant to a transportation job has previously been a participant in a legal strike, that person can be denied employment because strikes by transportation workers can be interpreted as an act of terrorism”.
I sympathize with the bro folks but most of them will be in the RJ in a few years anyway.
...
Don't plan on being at OO by 2010 but I still won't float the Brasildoe drivers down the river.
CA Chow!!!
