And what if they are not? What if they get stuck there when all the growth is done? What if they live in one of the bases where there are no RJs and want to stay on the airplane? What if they just like the plane and their seniority on it? I guess that's punishment for doing the hardest flying at the company.

What is the gain in voting no? A show of solidarity?

What do the bro folks think? A solidarity vote or a small CRJ raise (that you can enjoy if you transition)?

Honest question here...

The raise is to insignificant to lock in through 2010. 1%, why would you want to be commited to that for 4 years?

1% is less than the 1.2% they offered a year ago. The 5% override for the 700/900 is more like 3% when you're done with all the exceptions. This offer is cheaper for Skywest than the last one. Sorry!

VOTED NO!

This is utterly false BS that has been fabricated by someone. For about the third time, I am asking for verifiable references regarding this language...

Anyone?

I didn't think so.

Note: If this language can actually be verified, I will experience a dramatic change in political philosophy...

It is accurate. I don't have the references handy, but I suspect that Rez O. Lewshun has them. Try sending a PM to him.

Our profit margin is not that great, around 5% post tax, maybe 8% pretax. I get a little tired of people talking about record profits. Yes it's true, but it's the profit margin that really matters. If our profit margin goes much lower then we start having problems getting the best financing deals and if we loose that advantage then we'll be looking at pay cuts for sure.
I think they can afford to do better than this package, but we should be realistic about the position managment is in.

SKYW continues to generate good, strong book value per share, which increased [to] $17.26 per share at the end of 2Q06. 9. Income Statement: 1. The impact of increasing fuel prices is having a pretty significant impact, both in topline revenue, as well as some margin impact. 1. As SKYW looks at margin, whether it's operating margin or earnings before tax (EBT) margin, it's being impacted by the increase in fuel prices where the Co. is capped at a certain level at which it obtains margin on some of the fuel costs. 2. For the remaining fuel costs, although 100% reimbursed by the Co.'s major partners in contracts line, SKYW doesn't get a margin on a portion of that. 1. As fuel prices have continued to increase, it has tended to pull margin down. 2. But at the same time, the Co. is still generating the absolute dollars of net income that it has expected. Stick to flying aeroplanes, Scott. SkyWest is recording profits. Due you ever listen to Brad Rich?

Management is in a great position. You and they/SAPA may point to NOM or MBIP but ROE is almost 15%. NOM is down simply because SkyWest is not at-risk for fluctuations in fuel expense (amongst other expenses). See Brad quote above. For instance, if fuel is budgeted at $250 million, SkyWest earns a margin on this amount. However, when fuel comes in at $500 million SkyWest will only earn a margin on $250 but $500 million flows though as revenue and expense, thereby impacting the NOM or MBIP%. Sorry if you don’t understand this and clearly you don’t because you keep defending the ridiculous position of SkyWest management and SAPA, opps same thing, that SkyWest isn’t earning all that much by point to the NOM% reductions.

YES A SOLIDARITY VOTE!

C'mon rickair, I thought you were better than that.

I asked honest questions in my last post too.

I am sure if you were on the Bro you would feel differently.

Things always look a little different when it's your ox being gored.

Come on Mega... You've been around the industry awhile. Do you really think there is "solidarity" at Skywest? Maybe among the senior guys that can see through the BS factor.

Note: I have a SB for upgrade into the EMB. I'm looking at this more as a large sum of money to be distrubuted to the pilot group as a whole, not necessarily in an equitable manner, and not necessarily to me in the near term. But maybe better than letting the company just keep it...

Call ALPA. It's not BS. That language was in the Port Security Bill signed by the president. Luckily ALPA lobbyists were able to get it removed. Bush hates unions with a passion. We're lucky that Congress has been cleansed of the GOP majority. Those are politicians that would support allowing Chinese airlines to fly point to point in the US. They already started doing that by allowing Asian cargo carriers to make a fuel stop in ANC before continuing to the US east coast.

Know your enemy is all I can say. If putting food on your table and providing a future for your children matters to you, back the PAC. That is if you intend to remain in the piloting profession.

Pay vote prediction:
It passes with 60% or more voting yes.
SKYW pilots have a history of ignoring the effects their decision has on the rest of the industry.
And SAPA (Selling out All Pilots Apologetically) aka the SKYW future management club is encouraging everyone to vote yes by proclaiming it as a giant victory. Yahoo we've split the scales and got an expiration date.
BFD. Forget about the EMB drivers. They can fly the jet if they want a raise. Plus they already make more than GLA and Mesa. Why should they be able to participate?
Forget about debating the merits of the TA.
Which SAPA rep will be the next CP or other managment position as a reward for pulling the wool over the pilot's eyes?

I will call alpa.

But if it was in the bill signed by the president, it is now LAW. There is no way to modify a bill after it is signed, that has to happen when the bill is still in congress, BEFORE being sent to the president.

I called alpa national. They don't know a thing about it, but said they would do some research and get back to me.

There are also no press releases on their web site regarding this.. You'de think something this significant would be worthy of public mention.

Maybe you should read the ALPA magazine.
Ask someone for the last few issues. It was in an article a few months ago. I've given my copies away to some unrepresented pilots.

I love it!

Well, I emailed all these schmucks and they didn't even have the decency to write me back.......things that make ya go hmmmmmm

Rick,
That might have gone out in an ALPA FASTREAD email as well. I can't remember for sure if it was in the magazine or in a FASTREAD email. Does anyone save the FASTREAD's?

They answer to the folks who sign their paycheck, not you.
Pretty arrogant bunch that doesn't handle criticism well from what I can tell.
