skybus is so cheap......

HAHAHA a dispatcher makes more then the FO's. Thats how cheap that chit bag place is. They are so cheap the crew has to pay for any drinks consumed.

Most FO's make well over $30K.. guarantee is $30K.. that's better than UAL, USAir, and many others..

Get your facts straight before you open your trap.. I'm giving them serious consideration after reading up more on them, and I was the first one to be a critic when I read the mis-information on pilot message boards like this.. They pay by credit hours, and most pilot will credit 100 hours per month with a 15-16 day work month... that's $36K+ for an FO.. AND they're home EVERY night, while you surf the channels at the Ramada Inn!

Then there is the fact that with the exception of CMH, they don't fly into any really busy airports, so those long delays, and hassles that we're all used to flying out of other major airports are a thing of the past.. There is little sitting around as their turns are 25min.. most duty days are not longer than 10-11 hours.. etc..

Add profit share and stock options, and it's a risk I'm willing to take..

What did WN pay back in 1977?

btw.. I'm furloughed American, and if they hire me, and it goes the way I hope, I'll not be returning to the 12-15 year FO job I was staring in the face before..

Hassle of big airports. Is this your first cross country solo? Who cares so you line up and wait in JFK look at some bad ass planes land and taxi and get paid. Its really not hard going in and out of "big" airports. Delays will never be a thing of the past until we get rid of 50 seat airplanes at the nations busiestairports. I realize I just pissed off alot of dudes with frosted tips who tell girls at the bar they fly for US air when they really fly for air willy but, its true.

Lastly PROFIT SHARING
Since the Wright brothers took flight at Kitty Hawk. If you add up all the profits and losses from airlines you will have a negative number. Pay me cash and I will spend and invest where I want to.

PS don't compare usair or Ual to skybus ever again.

total missinformation.. you "think"?? How about getting the facts right, or is it ok since this is the annonymous internet? Their minimum days off is 13, and most line are 15 with senior ones at 17.. This is only going to get better for the pilots hired now as they hire more and more.. 200 next year alone. Those are the facts.

here we agree, but you have fun getting rid of the 50 seat jets! I'll worry about the realities of the industry and the way it's changed forever.

That might well be true in the post-regulation era for the likes of American, and other major airlines as they're a model designed for another era.. but Southwest, hasn't had a loss year in how long? Profit share at Southwest works.. and Skybus is more like a Southwest in their model than UAL.. so I guess you're right, I should compare them.. apples to oranges.


You can put your head in the sand if you like, but I for one will not. Go to USAir now to fly an Embraer out of PHL at $32K/yr on reserve? or United and fly for $28K/yr? or Skybus and make $10K more flying trips.. upgrade inside 1 year and make $85-90K.. with nothing but pay raises to look forward to, profit sharing, and stock options..

Gee, let me think.

I couldnt care less what SWA paid in 1977. Its what they pay now. Get on with a company that respects its employees. Never stayed at a Ramada Inn. I enjoy my overnights. So shut your trap pal. Good luck at STYbus. Wow a CA making 90g. Our 2nd year FO's make more then that. Have fun deadheading from Seattle or wherever they sell to out their. Make sure you carry plenty of singles to pay for those sodas and water. Maybe the FA's will supplement their income by giving you guys happy endings to your flights.

A captain making $90g at the beginning of his second year sure is a lot better than one waiting 18 years to make captain.. (USAir).

FA's getting 9/hr plus 10% commission is silly in my view, and I predict that may change.. but that's not to throw out the baby with the bath water. But to be quite honest, the biggest problem most airlines have is over-unionization. FAs should not be considered skilled labor.. nor gate agents, or ramp service. Pilots, dispatchers, and mechanics are skilled and LICENSED labor... FA's can be trained from the Macy's make up counter to the cabin inside of 1 month... they have no retirement age, no license, and no professional training outside of their on the job training.. Kill me, but that's how I feel. They're important, but not as important as they like to think they are.


Southwest's pay now is a direct reflection on how the company can afford to pay.. in the end, the pay you take home will be more about the income your company can make, and less about what type of plane or what type of route you fly

If Skybus plans to make a lot of money, you can bank on their pilots wanting some of that too..

Not to mention, those initial WN guys.. how are they doing financially as a result of the risk they took? ;)

I know many pilots at American that think of WN the way you are trying to paint SX.. the pot calling the kettle black I suppose.

I think I already answered this one before. When some other low life dou%*bag that couldnt get a job elsewhere was spewing the same stuff. Good luck at such a dirt bag company. I have my doubts if you are furloughed AMR. What a clown you are. With SNJS, boo hoo go work at McD's for the same money. Heck their uniforms are better. Nice way to think of your FA's also. With that attitude you wouldnt be very welcome at SWA. What a loser!

I haven't interviewed yet. An old friend I've not spoken to in a while and I reconnected recently and he works there and loves it so he gave me the FACTS which were sorely missing here and now I'm a critic turned possible advocate. I'm keeping an open mind as quality of life is king for me and being junior forever at some long established airline is not my idea of fun.

As for the callsign. I've long since sold the Volvo and gone to Mercedes and BMW. So I got sick of the almost weekly pm's asking how I like my Volvo!

Btw. If F/A is a license then I would like to see some links to where one gets this license and under what part of the FARs its under.
