Unfortunately, about a year ago, I had the misfortune to have MESA ("Freedom") assigned by DAL to fill two of my daily commute flights from Atlanta to Tri-Cities Tennessee.
I hope this never happens again!
It was by far the worst commuting year of my 12 years on this route, without a doubt.
They would fly the last two flights in there, then ferry the aircraft to CAE for overnight maintenance, and bring them back for the start flights in the morning.
TWICE they forgot to bring flight attendants back in the morning.
MANY times they cancelled.
MANY times the aircraft was broken, even after the maintenance.
MANY times they couldn't fill all the seats, largely a function of poor aircraft choice.
Their flight control didn't know where the crews were, let alone the aircraft!

Flight crews did great with the cards they were dealt, but I firmly believe Delta, and others, will drop them like a hot potato.

BAD management = BAD AIRLINE.
I feel sorry for the crews and what they have put up with, but at least ASA has good management, and doesn't (cannot due to ACARS) report fudged in/out times. I hope they get their act together enough to restructure for the sake of the employees, but the current management structure won't cut it.

operative sentence= About a year ago? Things have changed in the last year. MESA IS DIFFERENT AND BETTER TODAY

Please explain to me how their D0 time is 7% higher than their A14 time? Every other DCI D0 - A14 is within a % or 2. So they push on-time but are arriving late 75% because of those lengthy taxi lines in CVG? NOT.

Sat in the jumpseat numerous times when they call out on-time as we push 30-40 minutes late. It's call fudging the numbers.

"Never too late for an on-time departure!"

From the same guy who wrote "

I can tell you for a fact with 100% certainty that the day that Mesa files, the Delta contract will be canceled and there is absolutely NO legal recourse Mesa has to prevent this.

How can you have any credibility when you just make up this BS. It has been 15 days and Freedom is still flying.

Maybe you meant 99%?

There is no chance that Delta can cancel the contract while Mesa is in BK. There is a very good chance their school yard bully tactics will cost $70 million.

maybe you need new legal counsel ?

Rene just a question

Rene,
Let me ask this, lets take the situation out of aviation and put in into common day to day life.
If you lease a car from a dealership, would you not expect that the car should be returned in a working condition. Would you not be hit by every fee in the book, if you didn't?
Why would you pull the powerplant and store it anywhere else than back on the airframe? RAC demands the aircraft be in a serviceable airworthy condition. I don't think JO is waiting to pay the money at a later time to OVH a Pratt&Whitney and pay to have it hung, re-rigged and running for any other reason than he doesn't have the money to do it now. He is using the BK as a shield to protect him from the money he owes and rightfully should pay.
PLease don't use the word "integrity" when you are refering to a company ran by JO.
When he finishes sticking to the companies he owes, do not expect him to do the same (again) to his own employees.
PS. I worked for Raytheon for many many years, they have mighty deep pockets, they will get their restitution.

First of all you are assuming RAC is correct. let's just wait and see what the judge says. Assuming you are correct, why would Mesa spend scarce resources for aircraft that are grounded and in doing so put the remainder of the business at risk. RAC has been inspecting the aircraft and records for months and they are well aware of the condition. These airplanes have not flown for years yet Mesa has paid the leases each and every month, these lease payments included maintenance reserves for engine and airframe repairs. RAC has these funds as security for exactly the type of claims they are making.

Before you start throwing words like integrity around please try to get some facts. Yes, the BK process is indeed painful but RAC is no victim here. They had many opportunities to settle this claim out of court.

To answer your question directly, no I do not expect Mesa to "stick it" to their employees.

I have seen people in denial, but Rene takes the cake. Kind of reminds me of the Iraqui communications guy during the invasion.

What's an Iraqui? ...are you talking about the Iroquois?

You know, if we're going to be at war there, we could at least learn to spell/pronounce what they're called.

I HAVE been at war there, and the last thing they, or we, give a $hit about is spelling!

And how are they number one in the Airways system? What does CVG have to do with their number one status in in-flight frequent customer surveys? Why is Mesaba is last place?

Mesa is NOT number one in on-time perfomance, or controllable completion for USAirways. Nice try.

But it is cute how Mesa will be sitting at the gate at 12:20, just beginning a push and call ops with an out time of 12:06. What a joke.

Based on US Airways numbers they are? On time performance is measured at Airways based on A-14. Mesaba is at the bottom at Delta surveys because Delta frequent flyers who fill out the surveys put them there. They also rated Mesa #1. This is for the period July thru December 2009 at Delta. Airways numbers are for full year 2009. Incidentally, Mesa improved its UAL D-0 performance by more than 15% pts 2009 full year vs 2008, and yes they have ACAR's on all UAL aircraft.

This will be my last post on the subject. I am tired of talking to a brick wall.

Did I fall into a wormhole or something? Someone please confirm the current year for me.

Is Mesa really good now?

Is there really someone on here standing up for that garbage heap of a company?

I feel dizzy.

Rene... You are incorrect. Thanks for playing though. I don't care about DAL or UAL... Mesa is not #1 in the USAirways system. And in controllable completion they are not even top 3. Nice try though.

Ok, good. So it's still 2010. Phew.

At 99.4 CCF for full year 2009 Mesa was indeed #1 (This is up from 98.2% in 2008) Full year A-14 in 2009 was 82.9 up from 77.7 in 2008)

There is a a plaque to prove it hanging on the wall. I know you would like these numbers to be different but these are the facts. Why are Delta's and UAL's numbers suddenly not meaningful for purposes of this discussion?

Nice try, Maybe if you just shout Mesa sucks loud enough it will make it true.

MESA SUCKS

Trojan

Nobody needs to shout it to make it true.

LOL I am truly amazed at how you can continue to live in the past and deny fact after fact after fact. Several weeks ago US Airway's executives held a recognition event honoring Mesa for their 2009 #1 performance.

Honestly I am not making this up. I agree Mesa has had performance issues in the past but for the past year they have been simply outstanding.

Believe it, its true. Also Mesa's pilots now have one of the better contracts in this industry another fact you folks keep denigrating.
