With Daytona Beaches airport birthday it was mentioned that executives from ASA and Skywest were in town for the celebration. Also that there was talks of a branded (like ExpressJet) flying out of DAB to places like IAD. Not sure if it would be ASA or Skywest but would make sense to use the extra 20 50's coming available in April '10 from ASA. Just a rumor but Gulfstream International looks to be failing along with a recent 50.1% stock sale, along with there FAA issues, who knows?

In typical Skywest fashion, it seems like they're slowly testing the waters. Instead of jumping in with branded flying, they are expanding into a lot of "at risk" cities, but marketed under the mainline partner.

I could see a possible United Express flying to IAD from some Florida cities (maybe MLB, DAB, etc..) just a thought.

Its flying for the 20 ASA 200s. Skywest does not have airplanes to cover the flying. Once the announcement is made next month, PBS will pass for sure.

That sounds about right, I don't think PBS has a chance in hell of passing unless they dangle some carrot in front of us, and of course we'll bite.

I heard Skywest inc will be taking the 20 200s and giving them to skywest to fly.

Just kidding... hope asa gets some pie too.

Branded flying and "at risk" flying are not the same thing. Branded flying is going off on your own, ie ACA to Indy Air. "At risk" flying is contract flying where the regional is paid based on the profit of the flight, instead of a "fee for departure" type of flying.

PBS will pass regardless of new flying being announced prior. If its UAL flying, Skywest will get it. Maybe them taking that flying will take their planes out of our back yard and our 50's will stay in ATL to fill their "void".

Uax rfp

UAL's RFP for UAX flying was for 56 airplanes not 20, and included a request for turboprops.

This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the RFP... SKW has been taking on a bunch of at risk stuff in ORD and DEN the last few months which hasn't had anything to do with it. They have said over and over that they have found flying for the 12 or some odd number of 200s that were in MKE... they haven't said for who yet though but sounds like additional UAL at risk stuff. Not sure if it has anything to do with the FL stuff.

So I hear ASA will be flying 20 CRJ200's for United out of IAD with a mx base in CAE for them. Not sure if IAD will be a base or CAE be a base and fly through IAD. Sorry to put another log on the rumor fire but was told by ________ in the GO

Flybozz your avatar is crazy awesome!

Problem is that most people in Daytona would rather drive 80 miles to Orlando, pay for parking then spend $40 more for the convienence of flying out of DAB. MLB is in the same boat.
