My thoughts:
1. I've been giving ALPA 2% of my paycheck for 5 years. I'm still waiting to see a return on my investment. Maybe I should just stop and give myself a 2% raise.
2. If there are profit margins in the regional flying why does DL want to give them to an independent company instead of putting them in its own pocket (i.e. wholly owned)?
3. If this keeps up flying will become the domain of young, single guys/gals with no one to support but themselves. Those with families will have to move on to another career in order to maintain a decent standard of living.
4. As the saying goes; a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. I don't think we will be able to develop a truly unified front among the different DCI carriers. It's hard to overcome the basic human nature of looking out for number one. Therefore, each one of us should focus on getting the best contract we can, any way we can, and stop bending over for promises of growth.
5. Its possible I might get the flu several times this winter.
