Twenty CRJ900s for PSA Airlines?
August 1 marks the deadline for PSA Airlines pilots to agree to US Airways’ conditions for placing 20 Bombardier CRJ900LRs with the wholly owned subsidiary over the course of a year, starting at the end of the first quarter of next year. During a meeting in late June with pilot union representatives, PSA president Keith Houk and other PSA and US Airways representatives presented a proposal that in effect asks PSA pilots to fly the CRJ900s at the same pay rate for which they now fly 70-seat CRJ700s. The contract, which runs until June 2009, would also contain the present “Jets for Jobs” protocol, which requires the airline to make available half of all new vacancies to furloughed US Airways pilots. On July 6 union officials met in Charlotte to discuss the offer and, as expected, the lack of a pay increase met with a near universally negative reaction.

Really? You have met him personally?!? Exactly how is that I am lucky to work for a guy like that? Im lucky because he calls me a tool and he does not even know me? Or am I lucky that I have a CP who blathers on about writing on a bathroom wall when they are constantly Hot Reserving and you are expected to have a quiet room that is anything but because of its proximity to the crew room foyer? The latter seems to be a real problem and a little more pressing if you ask me.
Maybe someday when I am important enough to meet Him personally I can explain to Him why I use the bathroom across the way (without my hat) because those stalls HAVE A F-ING DOOR and are cleaned regularly!

Maybe mgnmt should look at the Dash 400 and it's PROFITABILITY before they go send a bunch of new 900's to PSA. If you guys want that flow through agreement you proclaim to have, this isn't going to help one bit. Mullet: He may have been at the interview...as I recall someone was there who had to leave right away...that could have been him...not sure though. I dont remember saying I had hot reserve a lot, but when I did it was at 5am...usually called out by 8 and I am sure that was way too early in the am for a CP to make a showing...besides, like I said, I dont even know who he is so I couldnt tell you if he was ever there...he probably was which underscores my point as to why he never made an attempt to know all HIS pilots. You are right on one count though...I am a big pu$$.

What does PDT lose? How are they screwing us in this particular deal? Sounds to me like they have to take it up the gicker on this one- I'd be furious at mainline if I was insulted with that proposal, and embarassed if I had to fly a 90 seater for much less than the Dash drivers make.

Put some thought into your posts- you sound like a lavwall militant just saying things to fit in or sound like the old farts.

I wouldnt know because you have never even bothered to introduce yourself to me (I was a new hire not long ago) ...every other place I have worked the chief pilot/boss made the effort to welcome me to the company. I'm around, Keep your eye out for me, we use to go to DAY for every new hire class, now I avoid DAY as much as possible...as far as running out of an Interview, Highly unlikely it was me, I have done probably 95% of the interviews in CLT (or the Sim Evals) but I have other duties besides interviews and I do occasionally have to run out to answer the phone. I'll be glad to talk to you about your concerns about the Crew Room, Hot Reserve and the Quiet Room.

Ask the Ops. Co-ord who's working and have her give you my #.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you called the DL pilot group "whore", or whatever else when they did what they had to do to get the 777s on the property, then went to the negotiating tables? How many of you were even flying an airplane then?

That being said, one way or another, those jets are going to PSA. If they were ever going to mainline, they'd be ordered by now. PDT is not going to allow the whipsaw to be used again. Both MECs are a lot smarter than the first time this came up.

hey if thats the case, i fully admit that I am a jack a$$, please forgive me. I was sure for some reason that those jets would be flown for 70 seat rates, if not, you guys rule, and once again I am sorry for being a huge d|ck!

Those jets may very well be flown for the current rate. The PSA contract is up soon, and if the 900s are accepted with the current proposal, I would imagine that with the added leverage the aircraft would get the pilot group, you would see significant gains in pay and QOL over there.

The other scenario I see is that if the proposal is turned down, Airways will come to PSA with another proposal. If those jets were going to mainline, they'd already be there. The other option named was sending them to PDT. Economics dictates that will not happen.

No matter what the vote, PSA will be flying those 900s.

The problem is there is no real leverage. You get those jets on property, come contract time they threaten to take them away....you give in.

You don't agree to do it they threaten to put them somewhere else...you may win, you may lose...nobody knows the answer except MGMT

This is the new modus operendi for AAA MGMT to negotiate like this...I say new, but they have been using the gloom/doom "we need an answer today" tactic for 4 years....with great success (unfortunately).
