To those who think that a strike vote is an act of futility, I ask this:

What else would you do? Throw your hands in the air and resign that you have been foresaken by the airline gods?

Management already has an easy of enough time of taking advantage of their respective employee groups. Why make it any easier for them? A strong showing such as this, albeit inactionable for the time being, will give the management team pause.

Well that and it gave Republic the contract that was supposed to go to ASA, remember the lift for Continental?

I don't care if we lose every contract out there until we get our own contract. And it better be a pretty DAMN GOOD one, or it will be voted down.

I was a NH when this Continental thing was going down, but anyways, our then Prez BL came in and blatently said , "We are exploring options to fly for Continental's available contract." You do not have to, nor will you believe me. But according from the proverbial horse's mouth, the bid was there.

I wouldn't believe anything management tells you in class in the middle of negotiations and you can count on about 10% of what management says to classes when there are no negotiations. They will tell you things are great when it suits THEIR agenda and tell you things are terrible when it supports THEIR agenda.

The "you guys need to sign the deal we have on the table now so we can get new flying" line has been repeated at every regional airline every time a contract has been negotiated. It's a negotiating tactic and nothing more.

I asked my friend, who is a member in the Operator's Union if he would sign a deal if management told them they would buy a new crane. He said he'd tell them to "go fornicate themselves". I have no idea (well I have some idea) why pilots buy into this line of BS. Until management gives it's right to negotiate lift contracts to ALPA, pilot's won't negotiate for new aircraft.

Its a moral booster to the guys flying the line, and with the Bush regime leaving office we airline pilot peons may soon have strike leverage back.

A 99+ strike vote isn't going to change things drastically but it does tell management that even if our pilots are backed into morgages and debt they are fed up enough to become fatalistic about there jobs and strike regardless of their personal finances because this company has sucked the life out of 99+% their employees.

Perhaps do some research rather than just jumping on the anti-republican bandwagon that our illustrious union likes to promote. Any yes many people did vote for Bush. It's called an election.

It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling, that even as Bush augers the country into the ground, there will be those who still think he's the greatest President in history.

How many rulings from the presidentially-appointed NMB has Bush had to reverse? True, it's zero. That just means that the board clearly understands the administrations guidelines not to release anyone unless a clear strike breaking force is established. (Northwest Mechanics, 2005)

To be honest, your staunch, gun-toting republicanism blows my mind away. You're a regional pilot- Bush most certainly does not care about you and your income level. He cares only for your bosses. Keep that in mind.

We at ASA did that 3 years ago, and it didn't do anything except give ALPA some material for their press releases.

I strongly disagree! It shows solidarity! A low percentage strongly reflects the inverse. A favorable vote is an important and integral part to the process!
