Flyer, It would be better if you quoted a whole sentence and not just the first part.

Why have FO's only now began to be vocal about the MEC turning down pay FO pay raises in '07? It seems back then, most of the FO's were ok with it, thinking it would give the union enough leverage, given the hiring situation, to get a TA. Well, it looks like that roll of the dice came up craps. The fact that the union made a decision that back fired does not entitle anyone to a bigger slice of the signing bonus pie.... the signing bonus that was intended to make up for the lost COLA.

None of this changes the fact that the seniority system will benefit those with more seniority, which has been the point of my posts so far. Do you disagree with that?

None of us expected that when the TA came out, it would fall so short of expectations.

It was a gesture of faith given to our MEC. A gesture that was not returned in either the quality of the TA or distribution of the bonus.

Next time, distribution must be more fair or it we'll vote it down again.

This is a union. Unions have seniority. Seniority is everything. Pay, schedules, vacation, upgrades, etc. Even bonuses, senior guys get more than junior guys.

I don't see junior guys complain when someone senior to them gets to upgrade, or gets a better schedule, or do the same job for a higher pay rate.
That's the biggest BS thing out there.
Yes Seniority means everything and when it would be paid out in an instance like this, the senior guys would get a lot more than the junior guys.
But when an assesment fee is to be owed by the pilot group has the senior guys pay the same ammount as the junior guys....when really they should be paying more, since they have more on the line.
Another problem with ALPA.

Seniority means you get a paycheck longer than the junior guy. You can see writing on the wall a lot further out... isn't that enough?

Seniority doesn't mean the best schedules, top heavy payscales, best vacation, best retirement, etc... at the expense of the junior pilots...

Talk about having your cake and eating it too!

We are all the same. CA should get paid more than FOs. Pay, QOL and benefits should be reasonably in line with all pilots. The current gaping hole between junior pilots and senior ones has got to stop.....

If seniority doesn't mean all of those things, then why do senior people get all of those things. I never said anything about it being right or fair, just an observation of reality.

Thanks to high attrition in the past years, "seniority" at Pinnacle has meant screwing FO's for the sake of lifer captains, as well as 21 day off schedules for senior guys and 8-day off hell for reserves. Sorry guys, the game is over.

Not true, wait until you get an assesment, that makes everyone on the pilot list pay the same amount every month. Your statement is bogus!

Hasn't part of the "screw the FOs" been the responsibility of those that went in search of a quick upgrade as well? That's how the RAH FO's got jammed with a 4-year FO payscale for all these years.

Glad to see you guys standing up for yourselves with this one.

Are you talking about an assessment, as in union dues? Or is there some kinda special fee that we have to pay ALPA on occasion?
